Consultant Nephrologist | Major Regional Referral Service | Victoria
The Prospect
We are working closely with a substantial regional health service in Victoria and are keen to connect with FRACP-qualified Nephrologists interested in full-time opportunities within an established Renal Medicine department. The role includes acute inpatient nephrology, chronic kidney disease management, dialysis oversight and outpatient renal clinics. Consultants contribute to multidisciplinary care and service development within a modern and expanding regional referral framework. This opportunity will appeal to Nephrologists seeking clinical breadth, stability and the ability to make meaningful impact within a growing regional community.
The Hospital & Renal Services
This is the primary regional referral health service for its district, supporting a catchment population of approximately 150,000 people. A recent major redevelopment has strengthened inpatient, ICU and emergency infrastructure, reinforcing the hospital’s role as a regional hub.
Renal service includes:
- Acute inpatient nephrology
- Chronic kidney disease clinics
- In-centre haemodialysis services
- Integration with General Medicine and ICU
- Multidisciplinary collaboration with Endocrinology, Cardiology and Palliative Care
- Structured referral pathways to metropolitan transplant centres
The service supports both metropolitan-adjacent and rural communities, creating a diverse clinical caseload.
Why Consider This Role
- Large regional referral centre
- Modern hospital infrastructure
- Established dialysis services
- Broad acute and chronic renal exposure
- Strong MDT collaboration
- Substantially comparable pathway supported
For interstate or international applicants, the RACP specialist assessment and AHPRA registration pathway can be clearly structured and supported.
The Location
Based in a well-established regional city approximately two hours from Melbourne, the area offers strong schooling, short commute times and a welcoming community atmosphere, while remaining connected to metropolitan services.
Requirements
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) – Nephrology
- Specialist Registration with AHPRA (or eligibility)
- International Medical Graduates assessed by RACP as partially or substantially comparable
