Group Manager – Safety, People & Workplace

Tellus operates Sandy Ridge, Australia's first and only geological repository, located in Western Australia. We help Australian industry start up, scale up and clean up safely and responsibly permanently isolating material no-one else can. Our work underpins the clean energy transition, resources and energy decommissioning, and national environmental remediation.

Our small and committed team is cleaning up Australia of hazardous waste – and our business is growing.

The role

This is a critical leadership role, with enterprise exposure from the Board through to the frontline. You will lead a team of committed specialists across safety, health, hygiene, environment, emergency response and Human Resources. They bring the technical depth. You bring the leadership impact.

At Tellus, safety is led by our leaders and owned by the people doing the work. We want someone who learns from how work really happens, designs systems that help people make the right choices, and coaches supervisors to be their best at Sandy Ridge. You’ll set the standard with our leaders and help people live it on site.

This is your chance to own the safety, people and environment portfolio for a nationally significant business. You will:

Shape and lead our enterprise Safety Plan, with a focus on in-field leadership impact, critical risk control and visible safety leadership;

Partner with leaders to deliver our People Plan, designing and implementing initiatives to enhance leadership, workforce wellbeing and engagement;

Lead our environmental performance, at the heart of our licence and our purpose

Report on safety, people and environmental performance to the leadership team and the Board;

Lead our HSE management systems,



assurance and risk and compliance frameworks.

About you

You’re a hands-on safety leader, with experience in a high-hazard WA environment such as mining, resources, energy or waste. You’ve led specialists and earned the trust of line leaders by helping them own safety and people outcomes. You’re as comfortable contributing to a Board paper as you are delivering a frontline pre-start. Experience in people and culture, psychosocial risk or organisational change will set you apart. This is a genuine next step for an experienced HSE or People & Safety Manager ready to grow with us.
