Counselling Appraisal Consultants – Melbourne VIC

Counselling Appraisal Consultants is seeking a Rehabilitation Consultant - Rehabilitation Counsellor to join our Melbourne team. This is a full time position based in Melbourne VIC 3000.

As a Rehabilitation Consultant, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals through their rehabilitation journey, helping them regain independence, rebuild confidence and reintegrate into work and community life. This position is strategically important to our organisation, as it directly impacts the quality of care and outcomes we deliver to our clients. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation plans tailored to each client's unique needs and goals.

What you'll be doing

- Conducting comprehensive assessments of clients' physical and psychological wellbeing and vocational potential
- Developing individualised rehabilitation plans in collaboration with workers, employers and healthcare professionals
- Providing counselling and psychological support to injured workers to address trauma, anxiety, depression and other barriers to rehabilitation
- Facilitating vocational rehabilitation activities, including job coaching, workplace liaison and return-to-work programmes
- Coordinating with external stakeholders including employers, medical professionals, case managers and community organisations
- Monitoring client progress, adjusting rehabilitation strategies as required and documenting outcomes




- Providing evidence-based interventions and therapeutic techniques to support emotional and psychological recovery
- Maintaining accurate and timely case documentation and client records in accordance with legal and ethical requirements
- Contributing to team meetings and case conferences to discuss client progress and multidisciplinary approaches
- Keeping current with best practice rehabilitation methodologies and relevant legislation

What we're looking for

- Tertiary qualification in psychology, counselling, rehabilitation counselling, social work, occupational therapy or a related discipline relevant to rehabilitation practice
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body such as AHPRA or equivalent
- Minimum of 2-3 years' professional experience in rehabilitation counselling, disability services, mental health, or related field
- Demonstrated knowledge of rehabilitation frameworks, psychosocial assessment and evidence-based counselling interventions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with diverse populations
- Experience working with individuals experiencing physical injury, disability, mental health conditions or vocational challenges




- Ability to develop individualised treatment plans and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Sound understanding of relevant legislation including the Disability Discrimination Act, Privacy Act and Workers Compensation schemes
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and priorities
- Proficiency with case management software
- Valid Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel to client locations as required
- A commitment to client-centred practice, cultural sensitivity and continuous professional development
