Heart of Australia

Brisbane

Help take specialist healthcare to the furthest corners of regional Australia. We are looking for a pragmatic, commercially grounded Human Resources Manager to lead our people and culture function- combining high-level workforce strategy with end-to-end HR delivery.

About Heart of Australia

Heart of Australia delivers innovative, life-saving medical care directly to regional and remote communities. Our fleet of custom-engineered, state-of-the-art mobile medical clinics travel hundreds of thousands of kilometres across regional Australia, ensuring distance is never a barrier to receiving specialist healthcare.

We take immense pride in our operational excellence, clinical safety standards, and commitment to underserved communities.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this is a pivotal standalone leadership role, with support from the Rostering & HR Coordinator, partnering closely with our executive and frontline operations teams.

Based full-time at our Toowong Office (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm), you will maintain strong proximity to our operational pulse, managing the end-to-end employee lifecycle across both corporate staff and complex mobile clinic teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Workforce Planning & Talent Acquisition: Design and drive sourcing strategies across specialized clinical, technical, logistics, and corporate roles to secure sustainable talent pipelines.

Rostering Governance & Fatigue Risk: Oversee compliance and hours control across our traveling mobile units; partner with operations to manage fatigue risks, avoid excessive overtime, and maintain attendance integrity.

Workplace Compliance & Employee Relations: Act as the internal authority on Modern Award interpretation (Health, Clerical, Road Transport where applicable), Fair Work legislation, and NES; manage performance, grievance resolution, and policy implementation.

Executive People Analytics: Deliver clear, actionable workforce reporting to the COO covering headcount dynamics, turnover,

leave liabilities, absenteeism, and WHS trends.

WHS & Injury Management: Champion safety governance across both our road-based mobile clinics and head office facilities, overseeing early intervention, return-to-work, and workers' compensation claims.

Performance & Capability: Facilitate annual appraisal cycles, coach line managers in people leadership, and build clear development pathways.

What We Offer

Direct Mission Impact: A rare opportunity to see your HR work directly translate into improved healthcare access for rural Australians.

Executive Visibility: Work as a true right-hand advisor to the COO and leadership team with a direct seat at the table.

Dynamic Scope: A role free from corporate bureaucracy where you can make fast, effective decisions across clinical, transport, and commercial environments.

Convenient Location: Modern head office in Toowong, close to public transport, dining, and amenities.

About You

You are an experienced, emotionally intelligent HR leader who balances strategic foresight with a genuine enthusiasm for hands-on problem solving. You speak the language of operations, use data to back your recommendations, and possess the discretion and backbone needed to navigate complex employee relations matters.

5+ years of progressive HR experience as an HR Business Partner, Generalist, or standalone HR Manager.

Proven track record in operational environments managing fatigue risk, complex shift rostering, or multi-site/remote workforces.

Thorough, practical command of Australian employment law, Modern Awards, Fair Work standards, and WHS frameworks.

Demonstrated capability partnering directly with executive leadership using data-driven HR metrics.

Direct, articulate communication style with robust conflict-resolution skills.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, or equivalent industry experience.

Experience within healthcare, clinical services, logistics, or fleet operations is highly regarded.

Candidates must be eligible to work in Australia
