Sharpe Engineering is seeking a Production Scheduler to connect production planning with daily workshop delivery. Reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll develop practical schedules, confirm jobs are ready to start and keep accurate information flowing between the workshop and support teams.
The opportunity
This is a hands-on scheduling role in a manufacturing and engineering setting. You’ll work closely with Workshop leaders, Engineering, Quality, Warehouse and Purchasing to coordinate ready work, identify constraints early and support reliable delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining daily and weekly schedules across work centres, machines and shifts.
- Sequencing jobs against approved priorities, capacity, material availability and routing requirements.
- Checking job readiness, including drawings, materials, tooling, programs and inspection requirements.
- Monitoring progress, updating forecasts and coordinating responses to delayed or at-risk jobs.
- Maintaining accurate ERP/MRP information, including routings, standard hours, job status and schedule dates.
- Supporting bills of materials and methods of manufacture, including updates to reflect actual cycle times.
- Identifying recurring scheduling issues and recommending practical improvements.
What you’ll bring
You understand how work moves through a workshop and can translate production requirements into a schedule people can follow.
You’ll bring:
- Experience in manufacturing, machining, fabrication or a workshop environment, with production planning or scheduling exposure.
- Confidence using ERP/MRP systems, scheduling tools and Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of engineering drawings, bills of materials, routings, labour hours and lead times.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage interdependent priorities.
- Clear communication, constructive follow-up and a calm approach when conditions change.
A relevant trade, engineering, manufacturing or supply chain qualification is desirable. Experience in a job-shop or multi-site setting would also be valuable.
Why Sharpe?
- Make a visible impact: help turn production priorities into achievable workshop plans.
- Use your manufacturing knowledge: work closely with technical and operational teams.
- Improve how work gets done: contribute ideas that strengthen scheduling, job readiness and delivery.
Our values of Integrity, Safety, Quality and Teamwork guide how we work. We’re looking for someone who keeps information accurate, builds productive relationships and protects safety and quality when managing delivery pressures.
