Position Information
Campbellfield Public School is located in Minto, in south-west Sydney, and has a current enrolment of 346 students. The school serves a diverse and vibrant community, with approximately 67% of students from a language background other than English and 7.5% of students identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Campbellfield Public School values and celebrates diversity and is committed to providing a positive, inclusive and supportive learning setting where every student is known, valued and supported to succeed.
In 2027, the school’s Support Unit will expand to five classes. The Support Unit caters for students with a diverse range of complex learning and support needs, including autism, intellectual disability, mental health needs and complex behaviours. Students may require significant adjustments and individualised support to access learning, communicate, develop independence and participate meaningfully in school life.
The position will focus on delivering high-quality, personalised learning and support that responds to the individual strengths, needs and goals of students within the Support Unit. The teacher will work collaboratively with School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs), families, school staff and external professionals to develop and implement individualised approaches that support student learning, wellbeing, communication, independence and social development. A strong emphasis will be placed on building respectful partnerships with parents and carers, monitoring and communicating student progress, celebrating achievement, and creating safe, engaging and purposeful learning opportunities.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students with Autism, intellectual disabilities, mental health needs and complex challenging behaviours, with a strong commitment to and passion in inclusive education.
- High-level communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work collaboratively, proactively and professionally with colleagues, parents, carers, school learning and support officers, external providers and the wider community.
- Highly developed management skills and a demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum through the development and implementation of personalised support plans that caters for diverse learning needs, maximises student growth and fosters high expectations.
- Demonstrated capacity to build and contribute to a positive school culture and school wide wellbeing practices with the ability to support inclusion, integration and connectedness.
