About us

The Fleet Workshop is a up-to-date workshop facility that services and maintains Council assets ranging from small plant through to large earthmoving machinery.

The Fleet Maintenance team ensure that our internal customers and external stakeholders receive excellent customer service to ensure Council assets maintain their operational requirements with limited interruption to the service they provide.

The Fleet Maintenance Management section oversees the servicing and repair of all fleet assets in workshops located at Principal Depot, Pittsworth and Crows Nest as well as mobile service and repair units working from these workshops. Maintenance Management also coordinate and deliver metal fabrication services across the region.

About the role

The Mechanic/Diesel Fitter is responsible for maintaining Council's Fleet in a safe, cost effective and operational manner.

The position will carry out maintenance of heavy and light vehicles, plant and equipment ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations and that workshop operations meet Workplace Health and Safety and environmental management principles.

- Permanent full time position based at Charlton.
- The base wage for this role ranges from $2,702.96 to $2,973.22 gross per fortnight.
- With an additional $6.00 per hour Critical Worker Trade allowance, earn up to $3,429.22 gross per fortnight or $45.12 per hour (dependent on individual applicant qualifications and training).
- Plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.
- $25.00 per week tool allowance.

About you

Hold the mandatory qualifications, training and/or experience, specific to the role:

- Minimum Certificate III in Motor Mechanic/Diesel Fitter or equivalent from a recognised Tertiary Institution.
- WHS Competency (White Card) for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, or equivalent, or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement.

The preferred candidate will be required to undertake a Criminal History Check and a pre-employment medical assessment to assess their ability to perform the genuine occupational requirements of the position.
