Senior People Business Partner | 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Our Story
Founded over 22 years ago, Grill’d started with a straightforward idea: to create healthy burgers that taste good and do good. Since then, we’ve grown from a single Melbourne restaurant into one of Australia’s most loved hospitality brands, with 180+ restaurants nationwide and exciting growth still ahead.
Grill’d is about more than burgers. From sustainability initiatives and community partnerships to menu innovation and restaurant growth, we’re passionate about creating great experiences and making a positive impact on people and the planet, and we have fun while doing it.
As we continue to grow and evolve, we’re looking for a Senior People Business Partner to join our People team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, playing a key role in shaping the people strategies, capability and ways of working that support our future.
About the Role
The Senior People Business Partner is a strategic partner to the business, working closely with leaders across Restaurant Operations and Support Office to develop and deliver people plans that drive performance, strengthen leadership capability and create a great employee experience.
This is a broad and influential role. You’ll combine strong commercial partnering with deep generalist HR and ER/IR expertise, using people data and insights to identify opportunities, manage risk and help leaders navigate complex people decisions and organisational change.
You’ll also take the lead on key People projects and improvements, from evolving core people processes and reporting to exploring responsible AI, workflow automation and smarter ways of working across the employee lifecycle.
Ultimately, you’ll help us make our People practices simpler, smarter and more impactful as Grill’d continues to grow.
Sound good? Here are some of the things you’ll be doing:
- Partner with the Business: Build trusted relationships with senior leaders, understanding their business priorities and translating them into practical, commercially focused people plans.
- Shape People Strategy: Use workforce data, commercial insights, employee feedback and external trends to identify people risks, opportunities and the actions that will have the greatest impact.
- Lead People Projects: Own key HR initiatives from concept through to implementation, including process improvements, PPR updates, reporting enhancements, HR technology and automation.
- Navigate Complex People Matters: Provide pragmatic advice on complex employee and industrial relations matters, workplace investigations, organisational change and employment practices.
- Lead Change: Support organisational redesigns, structural changes and other business transformation programs, ensuring the people impact is considered from the outset.
- Elevate the Employee Lifecycle: Continue to improve core processes across performance, remuneration, reward and recognition, contracting and other key employee moments.
- Turn Insights into Action: Use people measures, reporting, case trends and operational feedback to identify opportunities and turn them into meaningful improvements.
- Coach & Influence: Build leadership capability through coaching, constructive challenge, practical tools and targeted workshops.
- Simplify How We Work: Identify opportunities to remove low-value manual activity, improve workflows and create scalable, user-friendly People processes.
- Build People Capability: Provide guidance and support across the People Partnering team, helping create consistent, practical and legally compliant outcomes.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Experienced People Partner: Significant experience in a Senior HR Business Partner, People Business Partner or similar senior generalist HR role.
- Commercial & Strategic: Able to connect people initiatives with business performance and confidently influence senior operational leaders.
- Strong ER/IR Expertise:
Experienced managing complex employee relations, industrial relations and workplace investigations, with sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation, modern awards and industrial frameworks.
- Multi-Site Experience: Comfortable partnering with leaders across a fast-moving, multi-site operational environment.
- Project & Change Leader: Demonstrated experience leading HR projects, organisational change, process improvement or people technology initiatives from idea through to implementation.
- Data & Technology Mindset: Confident using people data and reporting to influence decisions, with a genuine interest in HR technology, automation and responsible AI.
- Brilliant Influencer: A confident coach and communicator who can build trusted relationships, challenge thinking constructively and navigate complexity.
- Improvement Focused: Curious, proactive and always looking for ways to simplify processes, improve the employee experience and make things work better.
- Values Led: High integrity, resilient and adaptable, with the energy to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Law, Industrial Relations or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
