Operations Manager Trades and Field Services

Adelaide SA | Full time

$178,400 – Total Package

$120,000 plus super, plus performance bonuses + fully maintained vehicle

Join the leadership team of a respected, family-run Adelaide business

- Take ownership of a strong pipeline of residential and commercial work
- Grow the team and systems needed for our next stage of growth

The Opportunity

Paint Professionals has the work, the reputation and the ambition to grow. We now need an experienced Operations Manager who can turn that opportunity into consistently well-run, profitable jobs.

For more than 30 years, our family-run business has built its name by doing things properly. Today, our work covers residential and commercial painting, pool resurfacing, window and door resprays and specialty coatings.

This is an important leadership appointment. You will take ownership of day-to-day job delivery, lead our field team and help build a business that can grow without losing its quality, culture or personal service.

You do not need to come from the painting industry. You may have built your experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, facilities maintenance, solar, restoration, automotive services or another field-based trade business.

What matters is that you know how to lead people, coordinate multiple jobs and protect the commercial result.

What You Will Own

You will be responsible for moving each job from an accepted quote through to a successful handover.

- Building and maintaining the weekly job plan
- Allocating team leaders, tradespeople, apprentices and subcontractors
- Making sure labour, materials, vehicles,

equipment and site access are ready
- Keeping several live jobs moving at the same time
- Tracking quoted hours and costs against what is actually happening
- Protecting job margins and raising problems early
- Supporting team leaders and helping people perform at their best
- Keeping customers informed throughout the job
- Making sure quality checks and handovers are completed properly
- Maintaining accurate job information, timesheets and progress updates
- Managing safety, site requirements and compliance
- Reducing delays, rework, confusion and wasted time
- Helping develop practical systems that can be repeated as the business grows

You will work closely with the owners and contribute to the wider direction of the business as part of the leadership team.

About You

You are a practical operations leader who follows through.

You are comfortable being in the office, on the phone and out on job sites. You can work through a changing schedule without creating unnecessary drama, and you deal with problems before they become expensive.

You will bring:

- Experience managing a mobile field team in a trade or service business
- Responsibility for several jobs, teams or sites at the same time
- Robust scheduling, planning and problem-solving skills

- A sound understanding of labour costs, job margins and productivity
- The confidence to lead team leaders, employees and subcontractors
- A direct, fair and down-to-earth leadership style
- Good customer communication and the ability to handle difficult conversations
- Strong safety awareness and practical knowledge of site requirements
- Confidence using job management software and business systems

A trade background is useful but not essential. Painting or coatings experience would be welcome, but we are more interested in your record of leading people and delivering profitable work.

This role will suit someone who has already carried real responsibility for a field team and a busy program of work. It is not a step up from job coordination or single-site supervision.

What We Offer

- A base salary of $120,000 plus super
- A fully maintained company vehicle and fuel
- A performance reward linked to the results you help deliver
- A genuine place in the leadership team
- The freedom to make decisions and improve how the business operates
- Direct access to owners who are committed to investing in the business
- A strong pipeline of work and an established Adelaide reputation
- The chance to shape the next chapter of a successful family-run business

In a business our size, your contribution will be seen. When the team succeeds, your leadership will be recognised and rewarded.

- The largest field team or program of work you have managed
- How you improved job delivery, productivity or margin
- Why this opportunity is the right next step for you
