Fire Builder is a quick-growing fire protection design, supply and installation company delivering fire sprinkler and fire alarm projects across Australia. As our project pipeline continues to expand, we're looking for an experienced Fire Systems Designer to join our design team.
About the role
You will take ownership of fire sprinkler and fire alarm designs from concept through to construction-ready documentation. Working from initial requirements or consultant briefs, you'll collaborate with estimating, project management and installation teams to deliver compliant, practical and accurate designs.
Key responsibilities
- Design fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems from concept through to construction documentation
- Interpret consultant briefs, specifications and performance-based requirements
- Prepare hydraulic calculations, layout drawings and system documentation
- Ensure designs meet applicable Australian Standards, FM Global Datasheets and relevant authority requirements
- Prepare fabrication cut sheets and material lists for procurement
- Attend design coordination meetings with clients, consultants and project stakeholders
- Support estimating with preliminary design input and technical advice
- Coordinate with project managers and installation teams to resolve design and site queries
- Maintain accurate documentation and revision control through platforms including Procore, Aconex and Site Circles
About you
- Proven experience designing both fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems in Australia
- Relevant QBCC Water Based and Electrical Design Licences or RPEQ registration appropriate to the role
- Competent using Revit, MicroBIM Fire and Hyena, or equivalent hydraulic design software
- Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, including AS 2118 and AS 1670, FM Global Datasheets and applicable building code and authority requirements
- Confident communicating with clients, consultants and project teams
- Comfortable working independently, developing designs from initial requirements and consultant briefs
- Organised, accountable and committed to accurate, buildable design outcomes
