The Job Company The Job Company Pty Ltd on behalf of GS BRICKLAYING PTY LTD (ABN 54 665 526 821) is seeking skilled and qualified Bricklayer to join our team in Tarneit, VIC 3029. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in all the general duties and responsibilities of a skilled bricklayer, including laying bricks, blocks and stone to construct and repair walls, foundations, arches, chimneys and other structures; reading and interpreting plans and specifications; setting out and levelling work; mixing mortar; and maintaining a clean and safe worksite in line with WHS requirements.

Task & responsibilities

Studying building plans, drawings and specifications to work out the materials needed, dimensions and installation procedures Erecting and dismantling restricted height scaffolding and trestles Setting out and marking positions of walls, footings and openings using string lines, levels, squares and measuring tapes Sealing foundations with damp-resistant materials and installing damp-proof courses Mixing mortar, grout and concrete to the correct consistency by hand or with a mechanical mixer Spreading layers of mortar with trowels to act as a base and binder for bricks and blocks Laying bricks in rows, patterns and shapes, and spreading mortar between joints Embedding bricks and blocks in mortar and removing excess mortar Building walls, foundations, partitions, piers, arches, chimneys,



fireplaces and other structures from brick, block and pre-cut stone Checking vertical and horizontal alignment using spirit levels, laser levels, plumb lines and straight edges Cutting, shaping and finishing bricks and stone with masonry saws, grinders, brick hammers and bolsters, and shaping bricks to fit irregular spaces Installing wall ties, lintels, flashings, weep holes and reinforcement in line with specifications and building codes Finishing and tooling mortar joints, and cleaning down completed brickwork Repairing, repointing and maintaining brickwork, cement blocks and related structures Laying segmental pavers and building retaining walls, steps and landscaping features as required Handling and moving materials safely by hand or with lifting equipment Working in line with WHS procedures, safe work practices and company quality standards, and keeping the worksite clean and safe

Qualification & experience

AQF Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying, or an equivalent overseas trade qualification recognised in Australia Proven experience laying bricks, blocks and pre-cut stone in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches and other structures Current White Card (General Construction Induction) and any state registration or licence required for the work Experience reading and interpreting building plans, drawings and specifications to determine materials, dimensions and installation procedure.
