QuIVAA

Brisbane

QuIVAA is a peer-led organisation. We work with and for people who use or have used drugs, their families and their communities. Lived-living leadership is at the centre of our advocacy, projects and training. We work collectively, from abstinence to harm reduction, with services, researchers, government and communities, and we are guided by the Elders who laid the foundation for our voice.

QuIVAA is an equal opportunity employer. We particularly encourage people with lived-living experience and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply.

About the role

The LEAP Training Co-facilitator will coordinate and deliver components of LEAP's statewide training program with the LEAP Project Lead. The position will ensure delivery is grounded in LLE expertise and applies trauma-informed, human rights-based, anti-stigma and culturally safe practice.

Working under general direction, the role exercises initiative and independent judgement in facilitation, regional engagement, participant support, evaluation and operational coordination. Regional travel, including occasional overnight stays, is required, particularly during the February-March 2027 rollout.

Key responsibilities

- Plan and coordinate face-to-face and online training, including schedules, venues, travel, communications, accessibility and learning resources.
- Co-facilitate inclusive adult learning and adapt delivery to participant needs while maintaining curriculum integrity.
- Apply specialist LLE knowledge and use Digital Stories in ways that uphold consent, dignity, cultural safety and professional boundaries.
- Create psychologically safer learning environments and respond appropriately to access needs, distress, conflict and sensitive disclosures.
- Build effective relationships with LLE workers, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations,

community organisations, AOD and mental health services, training hosts and regional partners.
- Coordinate participant follow-up and document de-identified regional insights with appropriate consent and cultural governance.
- Maintain accurate attendance, feedback, risk, expenditure and follow-up records, and contribute to project reporting.
- Analyse feedback, participate in debriefs and recommend practical improvements to resources and delivery.

About you

- Lived-living experience (LLE) of alcohol and other drug use. This is an essential requirement of the role.
- A strong understanding of harm reduction, and a commitment to its principles in practice.
- Experience facilitating or delivering training or workshops to adult audiences.
- Ability to work respectfully and effectively in a diverse team, including people with different backgrounds, identities, lived-living experiences and ways of working.
- A commitment to working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
- Willingness to travel, including regional travel and occasional overnight stays, particularly during the February-March 2027 rollout.
- A current driver's licence is required for some travel.
