About the Role

Location: Based at our Cleveland HQ, QLD – hybrid work arrangements available (min 2 days on site)

Hours of Work: Full Time, Monday to Friday

JJ’s Waste & Recycling’s Motor & Property Insurance team are seeking an experienced Senior Claims Officer to join our team.

In this role, you’ll manage a large and diverse portfolio of motor and property claims, handling matters from initial incident review through to settlement and recovery. This includes working across Australian, Current Zealand and United States claims, supporting depots, and ensuring all processes are applied consistently.





You will act as a key decision-maker - assessing liability, interpreting road rules, coordinating repair assessments, and working with third parties, insurers and service providers to resolve claims efficiently.

You’ll thrive in a structured, fast-paced environment where accuracy, sound judgement and strong stakeholder communication are essential.

What You’ll Do

- Manage end-to-end motor and property claims across AU, NZ and the US
- Liaise with third parties and their representatives to determine appropriate claim pathways
- Review claim demands; coordinate independent assessments when required
- Assess liability using incident details, road rules, and guidelines
- Work with our in-house legal team to manage claim disputes and legislation considerations
- Conduct weekly claim settlement processes and payment runs
- Manage a portfolio of third-party recovery actions, including letters of demand and follow-up
- Prepare briefs for legal counsel on escalated matters
- Support depots with incident queries, repair assessments and general advisory
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the claims management system

What You’ll Bring

- Experienced in motor, property or general insurance claims
- Excellent customer service skills with both internal and external stakeholders




- Confident decision-maker able to manage KPIs within a high-volume portfolio
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and documenting in claims management systems
- Professional communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills
- High attention to detail, and solution oriented
- Strong work ethic, integrity, honesty and commitment
- Comfortable working in a busy environment with clear processes and competing priorities
