Painter – Surface Preparation & Spray Coating

About the role

Pro2Pac is a specialist painting and surface coating business based in Biggera Waters on the Gold Coast, servicing residential and commercial projects.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Painter to join our production team, preparing, repairing and applying protective and decorative coatings to timber, MDF, cabinetry, joinery and other manufactured components.

Duties

- Prepare and repair surfaces by cleaning, sanding, removing existing coatings and filling cracks, holes, dents and other imperfections.
- Select, mix and prepare paints and coating products to achieve specified colours, finishes and consistency.
- Apply primers, undercoats and protective and decorative topcoats to timber, MDF, cabinetry and joinery using skilled spray equipment.
- Sand and smooth surfaces between coats to achieve consistent, high-quality finishes.
- Interpret work instructions, colour samples and finishing specifications.
- Inspect completed work and rectify defects through touch-ups, sanding or recoating as required.
- Clean and maintain spray equipment, tools and work areas, following safe chemical handling and PPE procedures.




- Work collaboratively with the production team to meet quality standards and production deadlines.
- Carry out painting and coating work both in the factory and on site at residential and commercial properties, including interior and exterior surfaces as required

Requirements

- Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or a relevant trade qualification, or substantial equivalent professional painting experience.
- Demonstrated experience in surface preparation, paint mixing and application of protective and decorative coatings.
- Experience operating and maintaining professional spray-painting equipment.
- Knowledge of coating systems, surface preparation methods and coating compatibility.
- Ability to follow specifications, match colours and identify and rectify painting defects.
- Reliability, attention to detail, teamwork and a commitment to safe work practices.
- Experience with 2-pack coatings, timber, MDF, joinery or cabinetry finishing will be highly regarded.

Salary

$79,500–$85,000 per year plus superannuation.
