Bethania Lutheran School is a Christ-centred learning community committed to nurturing every child’s potential. We are seeking a friendly, organised and enthusiastic Tuckshop Convenor to manage the day-to-day operation of our School's new tuckshop and provide high-quality service to our students, staff and families.

About the Role

Reporting to the Business Manager, the Tuckshop Convenor is responsible for the effective operation of the School tuckshop, including food preparation and service, stock and purchasing, food safety and hygiene and financial administration. The role also provides catering for School meetings, functions and events as required.

The Tuckshop Convenor will be the School’s nominated Food Safety Supervisor and will help ensure the tuckshop operates in accordance with relevant food safety requirements and the School policies and procedures.

The role is expected to begin in January 2027.

Key Responsibilities

Tuckshop Operations

- Manage the day-to-day operation of the School tuckshop.
- Coordinate food preparation, service and clean-up to meet daily ordering and service requirements.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, secure and welcoming tuckshop environment.
- Manage the School-approved online ordering and point-of-sale systems, including menus, products, pricing and order processing.
- Count and reconcile daily takings and prepare required records and funds for banking.
- Provide catering for School meetings, functions and events as required.

Stock, Purchasing & Financial Administration





- Order stock and supplies from approved suppliers within agreed budgets and purchasing arrangements.
- Receive and check supplies against invoices and delivery dockets and report any discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels, product rotation, expiry dates, wastage and storage conditions.
- Contribute practical suggestions for menu planning, pricing, cost control and the efficient operation of the tuckshop.

Food Safety, Hygiene & Workplace Health and Safety

- Ensure food is prepared, stored, displayed and served in accordance with applicable food safety and hygiene requirements and School procedures.
- Act as the School's nominated Food Safety Supervisor.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safe work practices within the tuckshop.

About You

You are an organised and practical person who enjoys working with people and providing excellent service. You are comfortable working independently, managing a busy service setting and coordinating the many day-to-day activities required to keep a tuckshop running smoothly.

Essential

- Sound organisation, time management and record-keeping skills.
- Practical food preparation, food handling and cleaning skills,



with strong attention to hygiene and detail.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic numeracy and confidence handling orders, stock, invoices, cash reconciliation and online ordering systems.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative and exercise sound judgement while following approved procedures.
- Ability to organise and prioritise work to meet daily ordering, preparation and service requirements.
- Current Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card), or eligibility to obtain and maintain one.
- Food Safety Supervisor training or certification relevant to the position, or willingness to obtain it.
- Commitment to completing required safeguarding, workplace health and safety and induction training.

Desirable

- Previous experience in a tuckshop, canteen, hospitality, catering, food retail or similar environment.
- Current first aid qualification, or willingness to obtain one if required by the School.
