School: Independent co-educational school
Location: Melbourne's west
Type: Full-time, ongoing teaching role, with a three-year appointment as MYP Coordinator
Salary: $100k to $141k + super (teacher salary placed by experience, plus the coordinator allowance)
Start date: Term 1, 2027
About the Role
This school already runs the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP), and it wants someone to take it from good to great, then stay long enough to see the results. You'll lead the MYP across the middle years, working with the school's learning area coordinators, and you'll keep a hand in the classroom with a 0.6 teaching load. It's an ongoing post, and the coordinator appointment runs for three years, which is about how long real change in a programme takes to show.
What You'll Be Doing
· Leading the MYP day to day: curriculum planning and review against IB requirements and the Australian Curriculum
· Working alongside eight learning area coordinators on unit planning, concept-based inquiry and assessment, and getting them to own it
· Running collaborative planning time and professional learning for staff
· Coordinating MYP assessment, reporting and student-led conferences, plus NAPLAN implementation and making sense of the results
· Being the school's main point of contact with the IB
· Teaching a 0.6 load, including at least one middle years class (senior classes are possible too)
Who We're Looking For
· Current VIT registration
· Full working rights in Australia
· Real experience with the IB MYP: teaching it, and ideally leading part of it, whether a subject group, a year level or the programme itself
· Curriculum or pedagogical leadership experience
· Comfortable with Compass or a similar learning management system
· Happy to work within, and support, a faith-based school's ethos
· An English background is a genuine plus,
but a solid MYP leader from any subject will be seriously considered
About You
You've taught the MYP and you've led part of it, whether that's a subject group, a year level or a stint as acting coordinator. You know your way around unit planners, the assessment criteria and moderation, and you can explain an IB requirement to a colleague without hiding behind the guide. Now you're ready to own the whole programme. If you come from English, even better, but it's the MYP know-how that matters most. You're thinking long term about where the programme will be in three years, not three terms.
What's on Offer
· An ongoing teaching post with a three-year leadership appointment on top, so stepping up doesn't mean giving up security
· A coordinator allowance on top of your teacher salary
· A 0.6 teaching load, so there's real time to do the leadership part properly
· A seat at the curriculum leadership table, working directly with the Head of Learning
· A growing school that's committed to the IB and wants someone to build with, not just maintain
The School
· An independent, co-educational, faith-based school in Melbourne's west
· An IB World School running the MYP across its middle years
· Growing, and investing in the people who'll lead it
Why Work With Armitage Collective
Before anything goes to the school, we'll have a proper conversation about how the role sits, who you'd work with and what the allowance looks like, so you know exactly what you're stepping into. The school is ready to interview as soon as it sees the right person, so I'll move quickly and keep you across where things stand at every step. Everything's confidential until you say otherwise, and it costs you nothing, ever.
