We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Plant and Asset Manager to take ownership of Northfleet’s substantial fleet and equipment portfolio. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you'll have the autonomy to drive strategic asset decisions, improve commercial performance, influence capital investment planning, and help grow a developing transport and logistics business.
If you're looking for a position where you can genuinely shape the future of a business, this is the role for you.
What you'll be doing
- Develop a fleet strategy and capital replacement plan, and building the business cases behind it
- Be accountable for the fleet across its whole lifecyle, from strategic acquisition through maintenance and compliance to disposal.
- Lead a small fleet team and set the standards our workshops work to. The team’s goal is to make sure every asset is protected, compliant and available when operations need it, at the lowest sustainable cost.
- Set consistent preventive maintenance standards and priorities across all sites and workshops
- Ensure every asset is registered, inspected, permitted and compliant, including heavy vehicle accreditation, Main Roads WA permits and WHS plant obligations
- Hold final accountability for vehicle damage and incident management, including setting delegations, deciding high-value or disputed claims, and making sure costs are recovered where others are at fault
- Lead the purchase, lease, hire and disposal of assets, and managing OEM, parts, tyre and repair suppliers
- Report monthly to the COO and leadership team on fleet availability, compliance, damage, cost and capex
About you
Essential:
- A tertiary qualification in engineering, asset management or business or a trade qualification in heavy vehicle or diesel mechanics
- At least 5 years in fleet, plant or asset management in a heavy vehicle environment such as transport, buses, logistics, civil or resources
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to analyse asset performance and profitability.
- Experience managing a mixed heavy and light vehicle fleet across multiple sites, including multi-combination vehicles
- Experience building maintenance programs, managing budgets and preparing capital business cases
- A current WA driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly to regional sites
Highly regarded:
- Knowledge of ISO 55001 and integrated management systems
- Experience with telematics, fuel management systems and complex ERP systems
Why join us
This is a senior role with real influence. You'll shape how a growing WA transport business plans, maintains and invests in its fleet, with the backing of the COO and a team around you.
