As we prepare to open our brand-new classroom kitchen in our new Centenary building, we are looking for a motivated Food Technician who is passionate about food science, nutrition and sustainability. This is a unique opportunity to support a dynamic Food Technologies program in 2027, and work alongside an outstanding Design and Technology team.

Working closely with our Food Technology Teacher and the wider Technologies department, you will provide technical, operational and administrative support to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of food education programs.

This is a full-time position during the academic year, however with additional leave applied during the school holidays, equates to 0.92 FTE. Typically, the technician works 8.00am - 4.00pm, 5 days a week during term time and then one week of each school holiday.

Key responsibilities include:

- Preparing ingredients, equipment and resources for practical classes and assessments.
- Supporting teachers and students during practical learning activities.
- Managing ordering, stock control and inventory systems.
- Maintaining kitchens, specialist learning spaces, equipment and storerooms.
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, WHS requirements and Protected Work Procedures.




- Coordinating laundry requirements and supporting College hospitality activities, events and functions.
- Assisting with maintaining a safe, organised and well-resourced learning environment.

You are a highly organised individual who enjoys working collaboratively and supporting student learning. You have strong attention to detail, excellent time management skills and take pride in maintaining high standards of safety and presentation.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Knowledge of food handling, hygiene and food safety requirements.
- Experience in a food, hospitality, commercial kitchen, catering, education or similar environment.
- Experience managing stock levels, ordering and inventory control.
- Strong organisational, administrative and communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive and flexible approach to supporting a busy school environment.

The following will be highly regarded:

- Previous experience as a Food Technician or similar role within a school environment.
- Current Driver’s License
- First Aid and/or Anaphylaxis qualifications.
- Experience supporting events, catering or hospitality functions.
