Senior Civil Project Engineers – North Queensland

Two opportunities: FIFO mining projects and DTMR infrastructure projects

We are seeking two experienced Senior Civil Project Engineers to join our project delivery teams across North Queensland. These are excellent opportunities for engineering professionals with a strong background in civil construction who are looking to contribute to major, technically challenging projects in a supportive and professional environment.

Position 1: Senior Civil Project Engineer – FIFO Mining Projects

This position will support the delivery of civil construction and infrastructure works on mining projects in North Queensland. Working closely with the Project Manager, site supervisors, subcontractors, consultants and client representatives, you will help coordinate the successful delivery of works from planning and mobilisation through to completion and handover.

Key responsibilities

- Assist with the planning, coordination and delivery of civil works on remote mining projects.

- Provide technical guidance and support to site teams, subcontractors and project personnel.

- Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work and construction methodologies.

- Coordinate construction activities to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.

- Monitor project progress, programme requirements, costs, variations and resource allocation.

- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including quality records, inspection and test plans, progress reports and technical correspondence.

- Support procurement, subcontractor coordination and the assessment of claims and variations.

- Identify potential construction issues and work with the project team to develop practical solutions.

- Contribute to project handover, completion documentation and close-out activities.

FIFO requirements

This role is suited to a candidate who is comfortable working on remote projects and travelling on a FIFO roster. The successful applicant will need to work collaboratively in a site-based environment and maintain a strong focus on safety, quality and delivery outcomes.

Position 2: Senior Civil Project Engineer – DTMR Projects

This position will support the delivery of Department of Transport and Main Roads projects across North Queensland. The role will involve working across road, highway and associated civil infrastructure works,



with responsibility for providing engineering and project support throughout the construction phase.

You will work closely with project managers, construction teams, subcontractors, consultants and DTMR representatives to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications, programmes, quality requirements and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

- Coordinate engineering and construction activities across DTMR road and infrastructure projects.

- Interpret and administer project drawings, specifications, contracts and technical requirements.

- Support the development and implementation of construction programmes and work packages.

- Monitor progress against programme, budget, quality and safety objectives.

- Coordinate technical submissions, requests for information, design clarifications and construction documentation.

- Manage quality assurance processes, including inspection and test plans, hold points, lot records and non-conformance reporting.

- Assist with subcontractor management, procurement, progress claims, variations and cost tracking.

- Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders, including client representatives, consultants and delivery teams.

- Support risk management, environmental compliance and project reporting requirements.

- Assist with project completion, defect management and final handover.

About you

To be successful in either position, you will be an experienced civil engineering professional who can work confidently across project delivery, technical coordination and construction support. You will bring a practical approach to problem-solving and the ability to build effective working relationships with a broad range of project stakeholders.

Essential experience and qualifications

- A relevant tertiary qualification in civil engineering.

- Demonstrated experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer in civil construction.

- Experience delivering major civil infrastructure, mining, roads, highways or related construction projects.





- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, project controls, quality assurance and safety requirements.

- Experience reviewing technical documentation, coordinating subcontractors and monitoring construction progress.

- Sound understanding of project costs, programmes, variations, procurement and reporting.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work effectively with project teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors.

- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving project issues.

- Current Australian working rights.

- For the FIFO position, the ability to work a FIFO roster and travel to remote project locations.

Desirable experience

- Previous experience on mining infrastructure or remote construction projects.

- Experience working on DTMR or other government road and transport infrastructure projects.

- Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, contractual requirements and construction specifications.

- Experience with project management, scheduling, cost-control and document-management systems.

- Current construction industry safety accreditation and relevant site tickets.
