Aquirian is an ASX-listed mining services group with a growing drill & blast business through Drillforce.

As Drillforce continues to grow, we are creating a new Senior Estimating Engineer – Drill & Blast role to strengthen the technical-commercial capability behind our major tenders, pricing decisions and operating contracts.

This is not a traditional estimating role.

We are looking for an experienced drill & blast professional who understands how D&B; actually works in the field and can translate that knowledge into robust estimates, resource models and commercial recommendations.

You might already be working in estimating or technical services. Equally, you could be a strong site-based Drill & Blast or Mining Engineer looking to move into a Perth-based role and broaden your career into the commercial side of the mining industry.

The role
Reporting directly to the GM Commercial, you will work across major Drillforce opportunities from initial assessment through to tender submission and, once contracts are operating, use actual performance to continuously improve how we estimate and price future work.

You will:

- interpret mining schedules, geology, scope and customer requirements;
- determine appropriate drilling applications, fleet and equipment requirements;
- develop and challenge penetration, productivity, availability and utilisation assumptions;
- build fleet, labour, support equipment and resource models;
- develop D&B; cost estimates across equipment, labour, maintenance, consumables, blasting and site support;
- support major tenders, pricing exercises and commercial recommendations;
- undertake sensitivity and scenario analysis around key technical and cost assumptions;
- work closely with Operations,

Technical, Finance, Supply Chain and Commercial teams;
- analyse actual contract performance against estimate, including productivity, penetration, utilisation, consumable life and cost per metre; and
- help build the benchmarks, cost intelligence and estimating systems required as Drillforce continues to scale.

Who we're looking for

We're more interested in capability and potential than a particular job title or number of years' experience.

- strong practical drill & blast engineering experience within mining or mining services;
- a sound understanding of drilling applications, equipment and fleet selection;
- the ability to understand the relationship between geology, penetration, productivity, utilisation and cost;
- meaningful exposure to estimating, tendering, budgeting, costing or commercial analysis;
- strong numerical and analytical capability, including advanced Excel skills;
- a relevant engineering degree, preferably Mining Engineering; and
- the confidence to challenge assumptions and make recommendations when the information isn't perfect.

Experience within a mining contractor or mining-services setting would be highly regarded.

About You
Technical capability is important, but so is how you work.
We are looking for someone who:

- takes ownership and can work independently;

- operates with pace and is comfortable with deadlines;
- knows when detail matters and when an 80/20 answer is enough;
- challenges assumptions rather than simply accepting them;
- can communicate technical issues clearly to operational and commercial stakeholders;
- is commercially curious and wants to understand what drives the economics of a mining contract; and
- has the ambition and potential to grow beyond a purely technical career.

Why Drillforce?
This role offers a pathway that isn't always available to technically strong D&B; engineers.
You will work directly with the GM Commercial and gain exposure to major D&B; tenders, estimating, pricing, customers, suppliers, contract performance and business strategy.

We don't expect you to arrive with every commercial skill already developed. If you bring genuine D&B; technical depth, strong estimating and analytical capability, and the curiosity to understand the commercial side of the business, we can develop the rest.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to build a career from:
D&B; Technical Expertise → Estimating & Commercial Decision-Making → Broader Commercial Leadership

Target commencement: January 2027 / by agreement

If you're an experienced drill & blast professional who wants to apply your technical capability to bigger commercial decisions and broaden where your career can take you, we'd like to hear from you.
