Freelance Concrete Estimator & Tender Manager

About the prospect

We are a Melbourne-based concreting contractor seeking an experienced freelance Concrete Estimator & Tender Manager to manage our estimating, quoting and tendering operations.

Our projects include commercial and industrial ground slabs, footings, hardstands and structural concrete works, including suspended slabs, beams, columns and walls.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the entire estimating process, from reviewing drawings and completing take-offs through to preparing proposals, submitting approved quotations and following up directly with builders.

This position will commence with a paid trial on a per-tender basis, with the opportunity for ongoing contract work of up to approximately 20 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

- Manage incoming tender enquiries and deadlines.

- Review architectural, structural and civil drawings.

- Complete detailed concrete, reinforcement and formwork take-offs.

- Prepare material lists and preliminary procurement schedules.

- Obtain supplier and subcontractor pricing.

- Prepare complete estimates covering labour, materials, plant, pumping, finishing and associated costs.

- Prepare professional quotations, proposals, inclusions and exclusions.

- Submit approved quotations directly to builders.

- Follow up outstanding tenders and maintain builder relationships.

- Manage tender revisions and clarifications.

- Maintain an organised tender register.

- Prepare estimating handover documentation for successful projects.

About you

- Proven experience estimating commercial and structural concrete packages in Australia.

- Previous experience with a concrete or formwork subcontractor strongly preferred.





- Minimum 7 years' relevant experience preferred.

- Strong knowledge of ground slabs, suspended slabs, footings, columns, walls and associated FRP works.

- Practical understanding of concrete construction methodology and labour productivity.

- Strong Excel and digital take-off software skills.

- Ability to prepare complete tender estimates independently.

- Excellent communication and organisational skills.

- Confidence communicating directly with builders and suppliers.

Location requirements

Applicants must currently be based in Melbourne or regional Victoria.

Remote or hybrid working arrangements are available; however, the successful applicant must reside in Victoria and be available for occasional meetings in Melbourne.

Interstate and international applications will not be considered.

Contract arrangement

- Initial paid trial on a per-tender basis.

- Opportunity for ongoing contract work.

- Flexible per-tender arrangement or up to approximately 20 hours per week.

- Indicative hourly rate of $65–$85, negotiable depending on experience and capability.

- Per-tender fees may be negotiated separately.

- Flexible remote or hybrid work within Victoria.
