Elia Greek Tavern, located at 57 Burgundy Street, Heidelberg VIC, is seeking a qualified, experienced full time Sous Chef to join our team.

Remuneration is $78,000 - $82,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on the candidate’s skills and experience. At Elia, we pride ourselves on offering traditional Greek fare with a modern twist in a relaxed and contemporary space.

Sous Chef’s Responsibilities:

· Prepare and present food to a consistently high standard.

· Assist with planning menus and developing traditional Greek dishes with a modern twist.

· Help lead daily kitchen operations and work collaboratively with the kitchen team.

· Maintain consistent food quality and presentation during service.

· Prepare dishes using appropriate cooking methods and kitchen equipment.

· Ensure food is stored and handled in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.

· Assist with ordering, checking deliveries and maintaining stock control.

· Keep kitchen work areas, equipment and sections clean and safe, in accordance with health, hygiene and OH&S; requirements.

· Provide guidance and training to junior kitchen staff.





· Contribute ideas to refresh and reinvent traditional Greek and Mediterranean dishes.

Skills and Experience Required:

· At least 4 years + of kitchen experience.

· Knowledge of Greek and Mediterranean food.

· Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, or an equivalent qualification in Hospitality or a related field.

· Strong kitchen organisation and stock-control skills.

· A responsible team player with the ability to guide and support junior staff.

· Motivation to develop and improve traditional dishes.

Note:

· The venue is open for dinner Wednesday to Sunday, with occasional daytime functions on weekends.
