Disability Support Worker (DSW) – Autism Support

Carefinity is urgently seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to support participants with Autism in the Sunshine Coast area.

We are looking for calm, patient, and experienced support workers who understand Autism, can recognise early signs of distress, and know how to redirect participants appropriately before behaviours escalate.

The ideal candidates must have a gentle, non-forceful approach and be able to remain composed and responsive in challenging situations.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide person-centred support tailored to the participant’s individual needs.
- Recognise triggers, early warning signs, and behavioural presentations before escalation.
- Use appropriate redirection, positive behaviour support, and de-escalation techniques.
- Maintain a calm, safe, and supportive workplace.
- Support daily living activities, including manual handling and medication administration, as required.
- Follow individual support plans and relevant safety procedures.

Requirements

- ✅ Previous hands-on experience supporting participants with Autism.
- ✅ Calm, patient, and non-forceful demeanour.




- ✅ Ability to recognise early warning signs and redirect participants before escalation.
- ✅ NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- ✅ Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- ✅ Right to Work in Australia.
- ✅ Current First Aid and CPR Certificates.
- ✅ Relevant qualification in Disability Support, Aged Care, or Community Services.
- ✅ Experience with manual handling.
- ✅ Experience with medication administration.

Ideal Candidate

We are seeking someone who is patient, observant, proactive, and confident in supporting participants with Autism. Candidates must understand the importance of responding calmly, identifying triggers early, and using appropriate strategies to prevent situations from escalating.

Location: Sunshine Coast, Queensland
