Our client, DIL CHAPEL STREET PTY LTD, trading as DAUGHTER IN LAW, is seeking an experienced full-time Chef to join its kitchen team in South Yarra, Victoria 3141. The position offers an annual salary of $78,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience.

Daughter in Law specialises in contemporary Indian cuisine, combining quality ingredients, bold flavours and creative presentation. The restaurant is committed to delivering a memorable dining experience while maintaining high standards of food preparation, customer service and kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

- Planned and developed menus, estimated food and labour costs, and managed food supplies and inventory to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Monitored food quality throughout preparation, cooking and presentation to maintain high culinary standards.
- Collaborated with management, kitchen staff and service teams to resolve food preparation issues and ensure smooth daily operations.
- Demonstrated cooking techniques and provided guidance to kitchen staff on food preparation methods, recipes and presentation standards.
- Prepared and cooked a variety of dishes while maintaining consistency in taste, quality, portion sizes and presentation.
- Implemented and enforced food safety,



hygiene and sanitation procedures in accordance with Australian food safety standards.
- Assisted in recruiting, training and supervising kitchen staff to improve productivity, teamwork and operational efficiency.
- Managed food storage, freezing and preservation procedures to maintain freshness, minimise waste and ensure food safety.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Must hold a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
- Must have a minimum of (1) one year of relevant experience as a Chef in Australia.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and cooking Indian curries, including curry bases, gravies, spice blends and marinades, is essential.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, allergen management and safe food storage.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and maintain quality during busy service periods.
