So, who are Yarra Ranges Kids Therapy?

We are a team of 7 passionate, fun and energetic Occupational Therapists who love working with children and families.

We have a great office base in Wandin North, just 10 minutes from Lilydale and under 30 minutes from Ringwood or Wantirna but all of our work happens out in the community.

We work across the Yarra Valley LGA, visiting children in the places where they actually live, learn and play.

What does the OT role look like?

YRKT works with children and teenagers aged 0–16.

Our OTs provide support in children's natural environments including:

- homes
- schools
- kinders
- childcares
- community settings

Our approach to therapy is fun, functional and family focused.

We work collaboratively with families, educators and other professionals and focus on strategies that can make a meaningful difference in children's everyday lives.

You'll have variety in your week, independence in how you work and the support of a team around you.

We can tailor your work location to suit you too. We don't want you driving across half of Melbourne because that's where we happen to have clients. We can work with you to develop a caseload in an area that makes sense for where you live and the hours you want to work.

What does your week look like at YRKT?

You choose the days and hours you want to work. There are no set days, no minimum number of days and no expectation that you make your family or other commitments fit around your work.

School hours? Absolutely.
A particular day off every week? No problem.
Want the school holidays off? Take them.
Need to change your hours for an appointment, school event, holiday or family commitment? That's life and that's okay.

Most of our team are parents. We understand that work is important, but it isn't the only important part of your life.

Things we DON'T do at YRKT:

We don't make you work the hours that suit us.
You tell us the days and hours you want to work and we build from there.

We don't make flexibility difficult.
Need to change a work day or your hours because of a commitment,



event or holiday? That's okay. We want you to be able to do those things too.

We don't make you feel guilty when your family needs you.
Kids get sick. Appointments happen. Life happens. Everyone in our team understands the juggle of work and family.

We don't make you work school holidays.
Take all of them off, take some of them off or work your normal hours. Whatever works for you and your family.

We don't fill every hour of your day with clients.
You need time to think, plan and prepare to be a good therapist. Our OTs have dedicated paid planning and preparation time built into their workload.

We don't fill your non client time with unnecessary admin.
We have fabulous admin support and keep the paperwork to what is actually required. Look, we've all worked in jobs where the "other stuff" somehow makes the day hours longer and we don't want that here.

We don't leave you without support.
There is always someone in the office or on the phone to talk things through with. Supervision is regular and can be as frequent as weekly if that's what you want. We also have monthly team meetings and termly team days to plan, prepare, share ideas and talk therapy.

We don't expect you to work yourself into the ground to earn a decent income.
This is a permanent salaried position with a guaranteed income and an hourly rate well above award. We don't expect you to cram your week with billable appointments just to make a reasonable wage.

And we don't take our team for granted.
We know how valuable our OTs are and we try to show it.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for Occupational Therapists who feels confident working independently and enjoy the autonomy of working out into the community.

You don't need to know everything, none of us do! There will always be support, supervision and a team around you when you need it.



But we're ideally looking for someone who has enough experience to feel comfortable heading out to a school, kinder or family home. Someone who can build relationships with families and educators, identify what will make a difference for a child and turn that into practical, functional therapy.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who enjoys working with children and families and wants the freedom to do excellent OT work in a way that fits their life.

You might be:

- an experienced paediatric OT looking for more flexibility and autonomy
- an OT with experience in another area who is confident in their clinical skills and ready to bring those skills into paediatrics
- a experienced OT who loves clinical work but doesn't want the workload or expectations that often come with a senior position
- returning to work after having children and looking for a role that can genuinely fit around your family
- looking for school hours work or just a couple of days each week

What hours are we looking for?

We're not going to finish this ad by telling you that we need someone Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30am–5:00pm.

We want to know what works for you.

Tell us which days you'd like to work.

Tell us what time you'd like to start and finish.

Tell us if you need to work around school or kinder drop off and pick up.

Tell us if you want the school holidays off.

You don't need to fit your life around this job. We'll build the job around the hours that work for your life.
