Chermside QLD 4032 | Full-time (38 hours per week), Monday to Friday | Permanent

Pay: $75,000 - $85,000 per year plus superannuation, based on 38 hours per week

About the role

This is a full-time role, 38 hours per week, commencing at 6:30am Monday to Friday.

Are you an experienced Nutritional Leader (Chef), ready for a fresh and rewarding career?

At Little Wishes ELC Chermside, a vibrant, 103-place family-owned centre in the heart of Chermside, we are open Monday to Friday offering education and care for children aged from nursery to 6 years. Recently assessed as an Exceeding early learning service by the Department of Education, our standards are high.

As our Nutritional Leader you are integral to our team and our educational and care service. The early years provide a foundational time to create healthy eating habits.

We take pride in providing nutritious, healthy and freshly made meals every day, which carefully account for any allergies, medical, lifestyle or religious beliefs. Ensuring our full commercial kitchen and eating areas are kept hygienic, organised, neat and tidy is a priority, and working together with a team of 35 educational staff members makes for a positive day. Meals must be available for the children at the times needed to keep them nutritionally fuelled and support their daily routines.

Our building is designed over two levels with six (6) separate age-appropriate educational rooms and outdoor environments. You are responsible for delivery of all meals, return and cleaning of all kitchen and meal ware, and all refuse management.

You will be responsible for our full commercial kitchen and its day-to-day compliance, including food ordering, food receipt, the food safety program, annual audit, council Food Licence and compliance with the Approved Food Safety Program. You will maintain strict controls around food safety and adhere to workplace health and safety.

Child safety is of paramount consideration. You will need to hold, or be able to obtain, a current Queensland Working with Children Blue Card,

and our recruitment process will explore child safety history in line with our Child Safe policies, Child Safe Standards and cultural safety. Our building has CCTV throughout, and your consent to work in this environment, where footage may be shared with government bodies, Police, the Early Years Regulatory Authority and the Qld Family & Child Commission, is mandatory.

You will need excellent written and spoken English to address child safety, individual child needs and emergency management systems. You will get to know our families, and the ability to be engaging and social is a requirement of the role. You will hold child-safe, child-engaging cooking experiences in conjunction with our educational team.

You will take responsibility for grocery ordering and maintaining the kitchen budget, and ensure all record keeping is completed on time and ready for any regulatory review or inspection.

You will be supported by our co-owner with a full induction and handover, including our developed menus and daily planning. You will need to be attentive at each mealtime to individual children's allergy, dietary, medical and intolerance requirements, in accordance with our Nutrition and Food Safety Policy.

Day to day you will report to our Director of Operations, Systems and Compliance and Director of Pedagogy, and work hand in hand with our team of caring educators and teachers.
