Your Opportunity to Make an Impact

Based in Indooroopilly, Brisbane, this permanent, full-time role reports to the AI Division Lead. You'll lead four engineers based in Sri Lanka, taking ownership of the quality and timely delivery of client projects and internal initiatives

This is a purely technical leadership role, with no business development responsibilities. Around half your week will be spent developing software and reviewing code, with the remainder focused on leading the team, managing delivery and building the systems needed to support the division's growing workload

You'll take responsibility for day-to-day engineering operations, allowing the AI Division Lead to focus on business development and the division's future direction. As the team grows beyond six engineers, your focus will gradually shift towards leadership and team development

Here's where you'll make an impact:

- Build practical engineering processes,



workflows and delivery systems from the ground up, bringing structure to a busy team with a growing pipeline of work
- Lead daily engineering operations, including priorities, workload planning, stand-ups and career development
- Review code, oversee releases and deployments, and ensure solutions meet quality standards before reaching clients
- Manage production issues and provide technical support for live client systems
- Guide software architecture and technical design, keeping integrations practical, secure and well documented
- Translate client workflows and business needs into clear technical requirements during discovery sessions
- Estimate effort and identify technical risks to inform project pricing
- Oversee cloud security, access management, AI governance and data security practices
- Champion agentic coding and AI-driven development practices, helping the team make effective use of AI coding agents throughout the software development process
- Recruit and onboard engineers as the team expands, helping maintain high standards and a supportive team culture

The Technology You'll Work With

You'll work with a modern technology stack, developing software and integrations while exploring the practical applications of AI.

- Cloud: Microsoft Azure
- Backend: Node.js and TypeScript
- Frontend: React
- Database: PostgreSQL
- Integrations: Xero, Buildxact, Procore and other industry platforms
- AI Development: Large language models (LLMs), MCP servers and agent-based workflows

What You'll Bring

You'll be a capable software developer who enjoys solving problems, supporting other engineers and taking ownership of outcomes. You'll be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where you need to establish better ways of working while continuing to deliver quality software

Essential experience and capabilities:

- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering production software
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers, with the ability to guide technical work, support colleagues and help a team perform at its best
- A strong commitment to agentic coding and AI-driven software development, using AI coding agents as a core part of how you develop and deliver software rather than relying on traditional hand-coding
- Experience managing offshore or geographically distributed engineering teams
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions and trade-offs clearly to clients and business stakeholders





Experience that will be highly regarded:

- Delivering SaaS products or custom software across multiple client environments
- Designing and implementing third-party API integrations
- Building secure, multi-tenant software systems
- Developing software for construction, trades, manufacturing, accounting or related industries
- Building production-ready LLM applications, MCP servers or AI agent workflows
- Improving and modernising existing applications and codebases
