Role details:

Join Visy’s Technical Centre in Coolaroo and play a pivotal role in advancing the performance, sustainability and quality of our paper and packaging products. As a Senior Lab Analyst / Materials Engineer, you'll combine laboratory expertise, technical leadership and data-driven problem solving to influence critical business decisions across manufacturing, recycling and product development.

This is an opportunity for an experienced laboratory professional to lead complex materials investigations, develop creative testing methodologies, support operational excellence initiatives, and mentor the next generation of laboratory talent within Australia's leading recycling and manufacturing business.

Key responsibilities:

- Lead the development and validation of laboratory test methods for pulp, paper, board, recycled fibres and packaging materials.
- Design and execute material investigation, research and raw material optimisation projects that support innovation and cost reduction.
- Conduct failure investigations and provide technical troubleshooting for manufacturing, product quality and packaging performance issues.
- Analyse complex laboratory and production data, delivering clear recommendations and technical insights to business stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership by training and mentoring Laboratory Analysts, developing SOPs and promoting best-practice laboratory standards.
- Represent Visy in industry and standards development initiatives while supporting continuous improvement across laboratory and operational processes





What You Will Bring:

- Degree qualification in Chemical, Materials or Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science discipline.
- Solid experience in a laboratory, research or technical investigation environment.
- Strong understanding of pulp, paper, board or fibre-based packaging materials and manufacturing processes.
- Proven expertise in laboratory method development, experimental design and data-driven analysis.
- Advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and mentor technical teams.
