Are you a skilled, hands-on construction all-rounder who enjoys variety, can turn your hand to different tasks and isn't afraid of a hard day's work?

Storm Call Roofing Projects is a well-established and growing Brisbane-based roofing company, and we're looking for an experienced Construction Handyperson / Trade Assistant to join our friendly team.

We're seeking a practical, reliable and motivated individual with a solid construction or trade background who is confident using tools, has good problem-solving skills and can work independently when required.

This is primarily a hands-on construction and maintenance support role, with truck driving forming an important part of your responsibilities.

Your working week will involve a variety of tasks, including minor carpentry and building repairs, skylight and roof ventilation installations, general trade assistance, roofing crew support, equipment handling and material deliveries using our company tip trucks.

You'll work alongside experienced roofers, carpenters and other qualified tradespeople, with training provided for specialised roofing tasks.

We're not necessarily looking for a qualified tradesperson. We're looking for someone with solid practical experience, common sense, initiative and the ability to get things done.

What You'll Be Doing

Truck Driving & Logistics

- Drive company tip trucks (primarily C-Class vehicles, with occasional HR truck duties for appropriately licensed drivers).
- Transport roofing materials, equipment, tools and supplies between job sites, our Brendale warehouse, suppliers and recycling facilities.
- Safely load and unload vehicles, including forklift operation where appropriately licensed.
- Assist with warehouse organisation, material preparation and general logistics.
- Maintain company vehicles and equipment in a clean, safe and presentable condition.

Handyperson & General Maintenance

- Assist with the installation and replacement of skylights,



roof ventilation systems, whirlybirds and solar-powered roof fans.
- Undertake minor carpentry and building maintenance tasks, including timber fascia, soffit and fibre-cement wall cladding repairs.
- Carry out general sealing, waterproofing and minor plastering and painting repairs as directed.
- Confidently and safely operate a range of hand and power tools.
- Work alongside qualified tradespeople, with training provided for specialised tasks.

Roofing & Construction Support

- Assist roofing crews with general labouring duties, primarily providing ground-level support.
- Prepare job sites, organise materials and assist with site clean-ups.
- Assist with the erection and dismantling of temporary edge protection, safety rails and fall-arrest systems where appropriately trained and authorised.
- Maintain safe, organised and tidy work environments.
- Communicate professionally with customers, suppliers and fellow team members.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is dependable, practical, hardworking and capable of using their initiative.

Essential Requirements:

- Previous experience in construction labouring, preferably with a trade or building maintenance background.
- Current unrestricted (open) C-Class driver's licence.
- Previous truck-driving experience and confidence operating larger commercial vehicles.
- Current Construction White Card.
- Practical experience using hand and power tools.
- Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements on construction sites.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage changing daily priorities.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read instructions and complete basic documentation.
- Ability to work independently, follow directions and contribute positively to a team.
- A reliable, punctual and motivated attitude with a genuine willingness to learn.





Highly Regarded (But Not Essential):

- HR truck licence.
- Forklift licence.
- Carpentry, building maintenance or general trade experience.
- Previous roofing or construction industry experience.
- Working Safely at Heights certification.
- Experience with safety rail or edge protection systems.
