The Cairnmillar Institute is expanding, and we have several exciting recent Lecturer (Level B) positions available across our Psychology, Counselling and Trauma-Informed Care programs.

We are seeking passionate educators and practitioners who are committed to delivering outstanding student learning experiences, bringing contemporary professional knowledge into the classroom, and contributing to the development of the mental health workforce.

We are recruiting across three areas:

- Psychology: Teaching opportunities across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, spanning foundational, applied and professional psychology.
- Counselling and Psychotherapy: Teaching in contemporary therapeutic approaches, counselling theory and professional practice.
- Trauma-Informed Care: Delivering engaging, evidence-informed teaching in our fully online Graduate Diploma of Trauma-Informed Care.

LECTURER IN PSYCHOLOGY (Level B)

Shape the Future of Psychology

We’re looking for enthusiastic Lecturers (Level B) to teach across our undergraduate and postgraduate psychology programs, inspire students, and contribute to academic scholarship and professional engagement.

We have opportunities for academics with expertise across a range of areas in psychology, including foundational psychological science, psychopathology, psychological assessment, applied psychology and professional practice.

Positions are available for those interested in undergraduate teaching,



postgraduate professional psychology education, or both.

For postgraduate teaching positions, we particularly welcome applications from registered psychologists who can bring contemporary professional and clinical experience into the classroom.

✅ Postgraduate qualifications in Psychology (PhD desirable)

✅ Tertiary teaching experience and strong disciplinary knowledge

✅ Ability to teach across relevant undergraduate and/or postgraduate psychology units

✅ Emerging research or scholarly track record

✅ Registration as a psychologist highly desirable for postgraduate teaching positions

LECTURER IN COUNSELLING (Level B – Teaching Focus)

The Cairnmillar Institute is seeking a Lecturer (Level B) to deliver exceptional teaching in areas like Trauma-Informed Practice, Person-Centred Counselling, EFT, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Existential Therapy.

✅ Masters in Psychology/Counselling/Psychotherapy

✅ PACFA or ACA membership (or eligible)

✅ Strong communication + teaching skills

Melbourne preferred | Up to 1.0 EFT, flexible | Continuing role

LECTURER IN TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE (Level B – Online Teaching)

The Cairnmillar Institute is seeking a passionate Lecturer (Level B) to teach in our Graduate Diploma of Trauma-Informed Care, helping professionals develop the knowledge and skills needed to deliver safe, responsive and trauma-informed services.

We are looking for educators with expertise in trauma-informed practice, an understanding of the impact of trauma across individuals and systems,



and the ability to translate contemporary evidence into meaningful professional learning.

This course is delivered 100% online. Applicants must be highly skilled in online teaching methods and able to create engaging, interactive and supportive digital learning experiences.

✅ Relevant postgraduate qualifications in Psychology, Counselling, Psychotherapy, Social Work or a related discipline

✅ Demonstrated expertise in trauma-informed care and practice

✅ Strong experience in online teaching, digital learning and student engagement

✅ Ability to develop and deliver contemporary, evidence-informed curriculum

✅ Excellent communication and collaborative skills

Online teaching role | Up to 1.0 EFT, flexible | Continuing position

Melbourne-based applicants are welcome, but flexible location arrangements may be considered given the fully online nature of the course.
