About The Role

OneByZero is seeking an Applied AI Engineer with approximately three to six years of relevant experience to help design and deliver production-grade generative AI systems. You will contribute to solution architecture, assess system designs, identify technical gaps, and help guide decisions across client engagements. The role spans large language model (LLM) development and adaptation, end-to-end system design, evaluation, deployment, and integration into multi-agent architectures.

You will work closely with engineering, data, product, and client teams, combining strong coding skills with a practical focus on production readiness. This chance is suited to an engineer who enjoys solving challenging problems and making their work reusable across projects.

Qualifications

You bring strong Python programming skills and the ability to write clean, testable, production-ready code. You have experience in machine learning engineering, LLMs, or model development, including hands-on work with techniques such as continual pre-training,



supervised fine-tuning, LoRA, or QLoRA. You understand transformer architectures and can evaluate how model adaptation affects behavior.

Experience building structured model evaluation and benchmarking pipelines is important, as is the ability to deploy models in cloud environments while considering latency, throughput, and cost.

We also value solid software engineering fundamentals, including API development, testing, debugging, performance optimization, and code review. Familiarity with AWS services such as Bedrock, OpenSearch, Lambda, ECS, or EKS; vector databases and search technologies; Docker or Kubernetes; and LLM observability, evaluation, or safety patterns is an advantage. Client-facing or consulting delivery experience, clear communication, sound technical judgment, and the ability to work independently are beneficial.

Relevant AWS or Anthropic certifications are valued, with expectations aligned to experience and assessed during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

Design and contribute to end-to-end LLM architectures, translating enterprise requirements into practical approaches from discovery through production. Adapt models for client-specific use cases, build evaluation pipelines, and compare performance, accuracy, and cost across approaches. Optimize inference for latency, throughput, token efficiency, and cost,



and integrate adapted models into agentic workflows in collaboration with orchestration and architecture teams.

Help establish reliable production practices, including prompt versioning, rollback strategies, monitoring, failure handling, and enterprise integration patterns for identity, access control, auditability, data boundaries, governance, and compliance. Review system designs, communicate trade-offs, contribute hands-on code, and raise engineering quality through thoughtful reviews. Work with cross-functional and client stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions, share fine-tuning and evaluation knowledge, and create reusable patterns, frameworks, modules, and runbooks that help future teams build on each engagement.
