Mackay
PP0004 Fleet Officer
Turn data, financial insight and good coordination into practical fleet solutions.
As our Fleet Officer, you'll play an important role in supporting Council's Light Fleet program, combining analysis, financial planning and day-to-day coordination to help us make informed fleet decisions.
This is not a role that requires you to arrive as a fleet technical specialist. We're looking for someone who can work confidently with data, numbers, systems and people. Fleet-specific technical knowledge can be developed on the job.
About This Opportunity
This is a varied role that balances focused analytical work with practical coordination across Council and with external suppliers.
You'll analyse fleet and financial information, prepare reports and recommendations, support vehicle replacement and budget planning, and coordinate activities such as vehicle purchases, disposals and fit-outs.
You'll also spend time working with suppliers and vehicle body builders to discuss specifications and equipment fit-outs, and collaborate with Finance and operational teams to keep fleet activities moving.
Because fleet activities connect across a number of Council processes, you'll need to be organised, comfortable managing competing priorities and willing to support the broader team when workloads change.
You'll
What you'll be doing
- Analyse fleet data and turn it into clear reports, dashboards and practical recommendations.
- Undertake financial modelling, lifecycle costing and replacement planning for Council's Light Fleet.
- Support budget preparation, forecasting, expenditure analysis and the annual development of fleet hire rates.
- Coordinate vehicle purchases, disposals and contracts, including working with suppliers and body builders on vehicle specifications and fit-outs.
- Liaise with Finance and follow purchasing activities through Council's processes.
- Maintain accurate fleet and asset information, including pre-start and risk assessment records in Assetic.
- Work collaboratively with operational teams, Finance, suppliers and other stakeholders to obtain information, resolve issues and provide fleet-related support.
- Improve reporting and business processes using Excel, Power BI and Power Automate,
including integrating existing dashboards into SharePoint.
What We're Looking For You'll bring experience in fleet administration, asset management, finance, procurement, data analysis or a related field, ideally developed over three to five years in a similar environment.
You'll Also Have
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn information into practical recommendations.
- Sound financial capability, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis or financial modelling.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and interconnected processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and a solid focus on data accuracy.
- A collaborative and team-focused approach.
- Strong communication skills and confidence having practical, respectful conversations with both internal and external stakeholders.
- High proficiency in Excel and confidence learning and working across different systems.
- A current C Class Driver Licence.
Experience with Power BI, Power Automate and SharePoint would be highly regarded. Don't have a traditional fleet background? That's OK.
We’re open to candidates from a range of professional backgrounds. Fleet-specific knowledge can be developed, while strong skills in analysis, finance, procurement, asset management or business provide an excellent foundation for the role.
A Certificate III in Business would also be relevant.
