We're building aircraft that fly faster, further, and to space.

Hypersonix is an Australian aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing company building hydrogen-powered scramjet aircraft. We work at the bleeding edge of hypersonic technology, delivering aircraft that fly faster, reach further, and open new pathways to space - and we're a small, highly capable team doing work that genuinely matters.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a commercially minded Legal Counsel to take on a newly created role within Hypersonix. Reporting to our General Counsel & Company Secretary, you’ll have the autonomy to run your own matters, whilst working directly with engineers, executives and external partners. You’ll deliver practical legal advice that helps us make good decisions and move quickly.

If you're looking for a role where you can take ownership, build broad commercial experience and make a visible impact in a growing company, this could be the opportunity for you.

We can consider part-time for this position (minimum 25hrs per week).

What you’ll own

Responsibilities include:

- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including supplier, customer, services, confidentiality and collaboration agreements.
- Provide legal input on tenders, bids and partnership proposals.
- Support capital raisings, share and option issues, and employee share scheme administration.
- Support the establishment and ongoing management of new entities as Hypersonix expands into the US and Europe.
- Support the company secretarial function, including Board and committee papers, minutes, resolutions and shareholder communications.
- Maintain statutory and internal registers,

prepare ASIC forms and manage annual compliance obligations.
- Support export control compliance, including DSGL and ITAR requirements.
- Draft and review internal policies and support privacy, employment and intellectual property matters.
- Build practical legal tools and processes, including contract templates, negotiation guides and a simple legal request process, that help the business move quickly.
- Maintain the contract register and track key obligations, renewals and expiry dates.
- Brief and manage external lawyers within agreed budgets and deliver legal awareness sessions to employees.

Life at Hypersonix We're a 70-person company moving fast in one of the most demanding fields in aerospace. The pace is fast, expectations are high and the workplace is constantly evolving. The people who thrive here are energised by that — not unsettled by it. To thrive here, you’ll need to embrace change, stay resilient, and bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. Priorities shift fast — you'll need to adapt just as fast and genuinely enjoy the pace rather than just tolerate it. You'll be part of a tight-knit team delivering bleeding-edge solutions under real deadline pressure, so strong problem-solving instincts and flexibility aren't nice-to-haves — they're how the work gets done.

What You’ll Bring To hit the ground running in this role, you’ll need:

- Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor.
- Current Queensland practising certificate, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Minimum 2 years' post-admission experience in corporate and/or commercial law.
- Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to give practical, business-focused advice.
- Australian citizenship.
- Ability to obtain any applicable security clearance or background checks.

- Experience in the corporate or commercial practice group of a large or mid-tier law firm (preferred).
