AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)
Melbourne
The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.
Accreditation plays a critical role in ensuring Australia's future health workforce is prepared to deliver safe, high-quality care. Joining Ahpra's Accreditation Policy team offers the opportunity to contribute to policy initiatives that help shape accreditation arrangements, standards and professional capabilities across the National Scheme.
We have both an ongoing and a fixed-term opportunity (approximately 10 months) available for the right candidate and can accommodate this role in any Ahpra office location.
In partnership with colleagues across Ahpra, National Boards, accreditation authorities and other key stakeholders, this role supports policy development and implementation activities that have a meaningful impact on health practitioner regulation and public safety. Policy analysis and project delivery are brought together to strengthen accreditation policy frameworks and support consistent, effective regulation across the professions we regulate.
As part of a highly team-oriented team, you will have the opportunity to work with complex and evolving policy issues, draw on diverse perspectives and help translate policy and stakeholder insights into practical outcomes that support the National Scheme.

- Experience in health practitioner regulation, accreditation, education policy or a related field will be highly regarded.
Why this role matters The Accreditation Policy team helps shape the policy frameworks that underpin accreditation across the National Scheme, supporting a health workforce that can meet the current and future needs of the Australian community. Through collaboration, research and policy development, the team contributes to initiatives that strengthen accreditation arrangements and support Ahpra's purpose of protecting the public. If you enjoy working on complex policy issues, collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders and contributing to work that has a tangible impact across the National Scheme, we would love to hear from you.
