We’re looking for a Safety & Compliance Manager to join our Life Sciences Operations team, primarily based at our Hallam manufacturing site. You’ll become the functional safety lead for Life Sciences, partnering with operational leaders and frontline teams to strengthen safety performance, improve systems and build a proactive safety culture.

This is an opportunity for an established or emerging safety professional to step into a broader role, gain exposure across multiple manufacturing operations and further develop their capability alongside experienced operational and safety leaders.

About your role

Based at Hallam, you’ll work side-by-side with site leadership and employees to ensure safety systems are practical, effective and embedded into everyday operations. You will also hold broader responsibility for supporting consistent safety and operational compliance across Life Sciences.

You’ll be an active partner to the operation, coaching leaders, influencing behaviours, strengthening systems and helping teams turn IXOM standards into practical controls appropriate to their operating risks.

You’ll have the scope to make improvements that stick, particularly across incident and injury management, manual handling, procedures, critical controls, audit actions and safety capability. This role is primarily focused on safety, environmental and operational compliance.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead safety and operational compliance improvement across Hallam and the broader Life Sciences network.
- Coach leaders and teams in incident reporting, investigations, root-cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
- Review and improve safety systems, procedures and critical controls to ensure they are practical, risk-based and aligned with IXOM requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement across manual handling, injury management, dangerous goods,

contractor controls and operational risk.
- Coordinate audit and assurance activities and ensure actions are effectively closed and embedded.
- Provide safety and risk input into site, equipment, warehouse and operational change projects.
- Build capability across leaders and frontline teams, strengthening ownership of safety.

Who are we looking for? We’re looking for a safety professional who enjoys working with people and influencing outcomes on the factory floor, while still being comfortable developing procedures, analysing data and improving management systems.

You’ll ideally bring

- Safety, risk or compliance experience within manufacturing or another structured industrial environment.
- Experience within food, pharmaceutical, personal care, packaging, chemical or other manufacturing environments would be particularly relevant.
- Practical knowledge of safety management systems, incident investigation, risk assessment and corrective-action management.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with confidence engaging frontline employees and experienced operational leaders.
- The ability to translate standards and policies into practical, fit-for-purpose solutions.
- A proactive mindset with the confidence to challenge constructively, take initiative and follow improvements through to completion.
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety, Science, Engineering, Risk, Environmental Management or a related discipline are preferred.

Why this role stands out This is a chance to move beyond monitoring compliance and become a genuine partner to the operation.

You’ll have the opportunity to help Hallam continue developing its safety systems and capability, while gaining broader exposure across Life Sciences operations and supply chain. You’ll work with experienced leaders, build your influence across the business and develop the breadth of experience that can support future opportunities within IXOM.
