Lane8 Consulting is a Perth consulting firm founded by practising consultants. We place experienced people into complex enterprise and government environments and back them as part of the Lane8 team.

We are putting forward a Senior Project Manager for a seven month assignment with a WA State Government agency in the Perth CBD, and we are building our Project Management bench alongside it. If this one is already spoken for by the time you reach us, we will keep talking - we are resourcing PM roles across government and enterprise clients.

The assignment

You would work inside the agency’s business systems team, managing the delivery of system and business process changes through to the end of the warranty period. Predominantly PRINCE2, adapted where the work demands it.

- Produce project initiation documents and project plans
- Report to governance boards - status, highlight reports, issues and risks
- Take change requests for scope, budget and timeframe to sponsors and boards for approval
- Track and report issues and risks through proper registers
- Manage project resourcing, and track resources and budget
- Present project updates and issues to stakeholders at all levels
- Produce closure reports and capture lessons learnt
- Keep project documentation to standard and filed in the agency’s EDMS

What we are looking for

Titles vary. Senior Project Manager, Project Manager, Delivery Manager, IT Project Manager - what matters is whether you can take an ambiguous scope and create clarity in week one without hand-holding.

- At least five years managing projects in a solution delivery environment, with sole accountability for delivery




- Medium to large projects in complex organisational and technology environments
- PRINCE2 in practice, not just on a certificate - PIDs, stage control, change control, closure
- Governance reporting that a board can actually act on
- Risk and issue registers that are used, not just maintained
- Working across business users, application development teams and other project managers
- Transparent, calm communication, and the ability to make complex things simple

Highly desirable

PRINCE2 certification · prior delivery inside WA State Government · experience taking projects through warranty and into operational support · regulated or legislated change environments · vendor-delivered system implementations

What we need from you

- Based in Perth and able to work on-site in the Perth CBD. Interstate applicants cannot be considered for this one - the client requires on-site presence
- Full Australian working rights, no sponsorship
- Able to obtain a National Police Clearance and sign client confidentiality undertakings
- Available from mid-November

Engagement

Contract, either PAYG through Lane8 or through your own entity. Seven months, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Perth CBD. Any working from home arrangement would be negotiated with the client.
