Senior Storage Migration Engineer / Architect

Locations: Sydney or Melbourne, Australia

Employment Term: 12-month renewable contract

Salary: AUD 120,000–150,000 per annum

Millennium Technology Services (MTS) is seeking experienced Storage Migration Engineers / Architects for opportunities in Sydney and Melbourne.

This hands-on role combines migration planning, technical execution and customer engagement. You will assess existing environments, develop migration approaches and deliver controlled transitions with minimal disruption to business operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess existing storage infrastructure, host connectivity, application dependencies, capacity and performance requirements.
- Develop migration designs, implementation plans, runbooks, cutover schedules and rollback procedures.
- Execute storage migrations across enterprise SAN/NAS environments, including transitions between different vendors and platforms.
- Configure storage provisioning, LUN mapping and masking, SAN zoning, host multipathing and replication where required.
- Coordinate with application, database, server, virtualisation and network teams to validate migration readiness.
- Perform pre-migration checks, testing, data synchronisation, cutover and post-migration validation.
- Troubleshoot connectivity, performance, replication and data access issues throughout migration activities.




- Manage technical risks and execute changes through customer change management processes.
- Maintain migration documentation, progress reports and operational handover materials.
- Support agreed after-hours migration and cutover activities when required.

Requirements

- At least 5 years of enterprise storage engineering experience, including hands-on delivery of storage migration projects.
- Demonstrated involvement in end-to-end migrations, from discovery and planning through execution, validation and handover.
- Solid experience with one or more enterprise platforms, such as Pure Storage, NetApp, Dell EMC, Hitachi, IBM or HPE.
- Practical knowledge of Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, SMB, SAN zoning and host multipathing.
- Experience supporting storage integration with VMware vSphere, Windows and Linux/Unix environments.
- Understanding of snapshots, replication, data protection and disaster recovery.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and communicate migration risks and progress to customers.
- Existing Australian work rights and availability to work onsite in Sydney or Melbourne.

Added Advantages

- Experience with Pure Storage FlashArray or FlashBlade.
- Experience migrating workloads between different storage vendors.
- Familiarity with host-based, array-based or virtualisation-based migration methods.
- PowerShell, Python or Bash scripting skills.
- Relevant storage vendor, VMware or ITIL certifications.
