Test Data Engineer
9-month contract | Brisbane | 3 days onsite
Up to $900/day incl. Super

We're partnering with a well-established organisation undertaking a major platform modernisation program and are looking for an experienced Test Data Engineer to join the team on an initial 9-month contract.

This role will play a key part in establishing a new automated test data capability, moving away from manual processes and legacy data environments towards a more reliable, repeatable and secure approach to testing.

You'll be responsible for designing and building a Test Data Factory, with a focus on synthetic data generation, data masking, provisioning and automated environment resets. Working closely with the Automated Test Lead, architects, developers and wider delivery team, you'll help establish the foundations for more efficient and reliable testing across the platform.

Key responsibilities:

- Design and implement a Test Data Management framework covering data creation, refresh, masking, retention and disposal.
- Build synthetic test data solutions across complex, tightly coupled relational data models.




- Develop data masking and anonymisation processes to ensure production data is not exposed in non-production environments.
- Map data dependencies and establish reliable data provisioning and environment reset processes.
- Integrate test data provisioning and refresh processes into CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
- Work with technical and business stakeholders to develop realistic test data scenarios.
- Document solutions and support the handover of capabilities to internal teams.

What we're looking for:

- Robust hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and Amazon RDS.
- Proven experience designing and implementing test data solutions within complex legacy relational databases.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, profiling and referential integrity.
- Practical experience with synthetic data generation, data masking and anonymisation.
- Strong Python and SQL scripting capabilities.
- Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and test automation frameworks.
- Someone who can assess technical feasibility, identify potential roadblocks and communicate issues early.
