Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must have the right to live and work in Australia and must hold, or be eligible to obtain and maintain, a minimum NV1 Australian Government Security Clearance.
About Us
Advanced Design Technology Pty Ltd (ADT) is a privately owned Australian engineering company that designs, develops and manufactures advanced electronic systems.
We work on technically challenging problems where performance matters. Our engineers develop real hardware and firmware, taking ideas from architecture and simulation through to integration, test and deployment.
We are growing our FPGA engineering capability and are looking for an engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical problems, understanding how things work at a low level, and turning complex requirements into working hardware.
The position is based in Fyshwick, Canberra. Relocation assistance within Australia may be available for the right candidate.
The Role
As an FPGA Engineer at ADT, you will work as part of a small multidisciplinary engineering team developing sophisticated FPGA-based systems for communications, signal processing and advanced electronic systems.
You will have the opportunity to work across the complete FPGA development lifecycle: architecture, RTL development, simulation, implementation, timing closure, integration, verification and hardware debug.
The Technologies You May Work With Include
- Real-time digital signal processing;
- High-performance FPGA processing architectures;
- High-speed ADC/DAC and data-converter interfaces;
- Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking;
- 5G, emerging 6G, communications and surveillance technologies;
- DDR4 and high-speed memory architectures;
- 56 Gbps+ SERDES and high-speed serial interfaces; and
- DisplayPort, USB and other high-bandwidth digital interfaces.
What You Will Do
- Design and implement FPGA architectures and RTL using SystemVerilog.
- Develop real-time signal-processing and high-throughput data paths.
- Integrate FPGA logic with processors, software, RF systems and electronic hardware.
- Develop and debug DDR4, SERDES and other high-speed interfaces.
- Create simulation environments and testbenches to verify RTL designs.
- Perform FPGA implementation, timing analysis, optimisation and timing closure.
- Bring designs up on real hardware and diagnose problems across firmware, software and electronics.
- Participate in engineering reviews and make technical trade-offs between performance, FPGA resources, timing, power and complexity.
- Work directly with software, electronics, RF and systems engineers to deliver complete working systems.
About You
- You have, or are completing, a degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
- You understand digital logic and synchronous design fundamentals.
- You can develop RTL in a hardware description language, preferably SystemVerilog.
- You have experience with, or a solid interest in, AMD Xilinx and/or Intel FPGA platforms.
- You understand the importance of simulation, verification and timing analysis rather than simply getting a design to synthesise.
- You enjoy debugging difficult problems and working out what is actually happening in hardware.
- You are comfortable learning unfamiliar devices, interfaces and technologies.
- You use source control and understand disciplined engineering development.
- You communicate clearly and enjoy working closely with engineers from other disciplines.
