About The Role

We are looking for an Android Developer with strong Kotlin skills and familiarity with Java to develop, maintain, and enhance mobile applications. You will work on application features, connect Android clients with back-end services, and help ensure that software is reliable, responsive, and straightforward to use. The role calls for a sound understanding of Android architecture, platform APIs, and current development practices, alongside the ability to investigate issues and deliver well-considered solutions.

You will collaborate with product, design, and engineering stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into maintainable implementations. Depending on project needs, you may participate in planning, code reviews, testing, release preparation, and ongoing improvements to existing applications. We welcome candidates who communicate clearly, take ownership of their work, and are motivated to keep learning as Android technologies evolve.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include practical proficiency in Kotlin and familiarity with Java, as well as a solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design. You should understand Android architecture,



relevant platform APIs, and established development practices.

Experience integrating RESTful APIs and connecting applications to back-end services is important, as is familiarity with cloud messaging APIs and push notifications. You should also be comfortable using Git or another version control system and able to work carefully through technical problems with attention to detail.

Desirable experience includes automated testing, continuous integration, and development tools such as Android Studio or IntelliJ IDEA. An understanding of UI and UX standards and familiarity with Agile development processes will be beneficial. Kotlin certification is welcomed but not essential.

Experience with other JVM languages, including Groovy or Scala, may be useful. Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes is an additional advantage. We are also interested in candidates who can explain technical decisions clearly and work constructively with people across different disciplines.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain Android application features using Kotlin and, where appropriate, Java. Build clean, maintainable code that follows sound object-oriented design principles and supports the long-term health of the application. Integrate RESTful services and manage communication between mobile applications and back-end systems.



Implement or support push notification functionality using relevant cloud messaging APIs.

Investigate defects, diagnose performance or compatibility issues, and contribute practical fixes. Participate in code reviews and apply feedback to improve quality, consistency, and maintainability. Create or update automated tests where appropriate, and support continuous integration and delivery practices.

Work with colleagues to clarify requirements, consider usability, and deliver features aligned with agreed priorities. Use Git to manage code changes and collaborate effectively. Keep up to date with Android platform updates, development tools, and relevant industry practices, sharing useful knowledge with the wider team.
