Senior Payroll Officer | Canberra, ACT | 12-month Contract with potential to extend

We are partnering with a well-established leader in the defence and technology sector, seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to join their collaborative payroll team.

This is an prospect to work in a complex payroll environment where your expertise will be valued, and you'll play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services to a diverse workforce.

About the Role
You will be responsible for the end-to-end processing of payroll while providing expert advice and support to employees, managers and key stakeholders. You'll work closely with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll obligations are met and continuously identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

- End-to-end payroll processing for a large and diverse workforce
- Ensuring payroll is processed accurately and within required timeframes
- Interpreting awards, enterprise agreements and relevant legislation
- Managing payroll enquiries and providing advice to employees and stakeholders
- Processing leave, allowances, deductions, superannuation and termination payments
- Performing payroll reconciliations and reporting activities
- Assisting with payroll audits and compliance requirements
- Supporting payroll system maintenance, testing and process improvements
- Building strong relationships across HR, Finance and the wider business

About You





- Minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience (or 3+ years if holding an advanced degree)
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP GlobalView (SAP), Realtime (Kronos), and Workday
- Australian Citizen's only
- Baseline Clearance
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- High attention to detail with strong problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
