Product & Development Manager
Inner Melbourne, Victoria | Full time
Pioneer a new manufacturing capability with an established premium products business.
If you’re excited by the opportunity to turn product ideas into reality and shape how a business develops and manufactures its own range, this role gives you the scope to make your mark.
You’ll join a respected importer and distributor serving high-end residential and commercial clients across Australia and New Zealand. With strong customer relationships and an established premium portfolio to build on, you’ll help drive the company’s next stage of growth.
Your opportunity
Working directly with the Executive Team, you’ll shape the product roadmap, build overseas manufacturing partnerships and personally take products from concept to launch.
This is a hands-on role where your commercial judgement, technical curiosity and ability to deliver will directly influence the range, customer experience and business performance.
You’ll join a warm, ambitious team that values care, openness, accountability and high standards.
What you’ll do
· Own and evolve the product roadmap across existing and new categories, identifying customer needs, market gaps and opportunities for product innovation.
· Develop customer-focused product solutions that simplify and accelerate the design process.
· Lead development through specifications, sourcing, sampling, testing, production and launch.
· Find and build relationships with overseas manufacturers,
negotiating specifications and commercial terms.
· Own project budgets, timelines and business cases, including landed costs, pricing and margins.
· Coordinate quality, compliance and launch readiness with internal teams and qualified specialists.
· Use customer feedback and product performance to improve the range.
What you’ll bring
You’ve helped bring physical products to market and want greater ownership of what comes next. You combine practical product development experience with sound commercial judgement and the confidence to work directly with manufacturers.
You’ll bring:
· Around five to eight years’ relevant experience in product development, manufacturing, sourcing or product management.
· Direct experience with overseas manufacturers, ideally in Asia.
· Strong costing, negotiation and project management skills.
· The ability to assess samples, resolve technical issues and keep several projects moving.
· A cooperative approach and pride in following through.
Experience in appliances, cabinetry, furniture, storage systems or related durable goods would be highly regarded.
Make your mark
Bring your ideas, take ownership and help build a manufacturing capability you can be proud of.
Apply with your resume and a personalised cover letter explaining your interest. Include one physical product you helped take from concept through manufacturing to launch, your contribution and the outcome.
