Technical Supervisor – Defence Maintenance

$129,355 per annum inclusive of superannuation

Staffpower is seeking an experienced and motivated Technical Supervisor to lead and support a skilled maintenance team.

About the Role

As Technical Supervisor, you'll be responsible for overseeing maintenance activities, providing technical guidance to tradespeople and ensuring work is completed in accordance with quality, safety and operational requirements.

Working closely with site management, planners and other operational teams, you'll play a key role in maintaining productivity, improving processes and supporting the development of your team.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Supervising and coordinating daily maintenance and workshop activities

- Allocating work to suitably qualified and competent tradespeople

- Providing technical guidance, troubleshooting support and direction to maintenance teams

- Monitoring work quality and ensuring maintenance tasks meet required standards

- Conducting technical inspections and identifying additional quality checks where required

- Ensuring accurate completion of work orders and maintenance documentation

- Monitoring outstanding maintenance activities and addressing overdue work orders

- Investigating equipment defects and identifying appropriate corrective actions

- Coaching,



mentoring and developing tradespeople to improve performance and capability

- Maintaining compliance with workplace health, safety and quality requirements

- Working collaboratively with management and planning teams to improve operational efficiency

- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives

About You

We're looking for a confident and capable leader who brings a combination of hands-on trade knowledge, technical problem-solving abilities and strong people management skills.

To be successful, you will ideally have:

- A relevant trade qualification, Certificate IV or equivalent experience acceptable under contract requirements

- Demonstrated experience supervising tradespeople or leading maintenance teams

- Strong mechanical, technical or industrial maintenance knowledge

- Experience conducting technical inspections, quality checks and fault investigations

- Confidence using maintenance management systems, with SAP or MILIS experience highly regarded

- Robust computer skills, including Microsoft Office

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate, coach and develop employees

- A sound understanding of workplace health and safety, quality and compliance requirements

- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities

- A current Australian C Class manual driver's licence

Experience in Defence, heavy vehicle maintenance, mechanical workshops, industrial maintenance or similar technical environments will be highly regarded.
