We’re looking for a tech-savvy, analytical and detail-oriented individual to join Uber’s Retail Core Operations team in Sydney. You’ll help keep merchant stores, integrations, product catalogues and day-to-day operational processes running smoothly, supporting a reliable experience for retailers and their customers on Uber Eats
Job Details:
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Sydney - hybrid (3 days in office)
Duration: 12 Months
Hours: Mon-Fri; 9am-5pm
Pay rate: $38.89 - 44.42 hr + super (based on experience)
About the role and team:
Uber Eats now enables our customers to shop beyond restaurant food, from groceries and everyday essentials to alcohol, health and beauty, and other retail products.
Across Australia and New Zealand, we’re expanding our retail offering and helping merchants of different sizes connect with customers through Uber’s platform. As the business grows, reliable integrations, accurate product information and consistent store operations are essential to delivering a great shopping experience.
Our Retail Core Operations team works closely with Commercial, Product and Engineering to help retailers launch, operate and grow on Uber Eats. We focus on strengthening the operational foundations of the business, from catalogue quality and item availability to pricing accuracy, merchant support and scalable processes.
As a Core Operations Specialist, you’ll support the day-to-day processes that help retail merchants operate effectively on Uber Eats.
You’ll investigate store configuration, integration and catalogue issues, maintain operational checks and reporting, and coordinate with internal teams to resolve problems. This is a hands-on role that combines technical troubleshooting, data analysis and structured process execution.
Your work will help ensure that stores are available when they should be, product information and prices are accurate, and issues are identified and addressed quickly. You’ll also help improve how we work by documenting solutions, identifying recurring problems and streamlining repetitive tasks.
What you'll do:
1. Merchant Operations and Issue Investigation
● Investigate merchant operational issues, including store configuration, opening hours, store availability.
● Use data and internal tools to understand the scope, impact and likely cause of an issue.
● Prioritise investigations based on merchant and customer impact, following agreed escalation processes.
● Work closely with Commercial and relevant technical teams to coordinate resolutions and provide clear updates.
● Identify recurring issues and recommend practical improvements that reduce manual work and prevent repeat problems.
2. Merchant Integration and Catalogue Support
● Troubleshoot merchant integrations and product data feeds, including SFTP, APIs and catalogue ingestion processes.
● Investigate catalogue issues using Uber’s internal tools, to address publishing failures, missing or incorrect product
information, pricing discrepancies and integration errors.
● Monitor integration and catalogue health, identifying failed updates or other issues affecting the accuracy and availability of
products on Uber Eats.
● Resolve issues using established tools and processes, while escalating more complex problems to Engineering with clear
evidence and reproduction steps.
● Track issues through to resolution and verify that corrective actions have addressed the problem.
3. Operational Quality and Governance
● Carry out recurring operational checks and audits that support a consistent, high-quality retail experience.
● Support monitoring and governance across key areas, including:
● Merchant quality
● Pricing accuracy and price governance
● Catalogue completeness,
freshness and data quality
● Product availability and related data discrepancies
● Store opening hours and availability
● Identify exceptions, investigate discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions with the appropriate teams.
● Maintain accurate operational trackers, reports and documentation, with clear ownership and follow-up actions.
● Help improve the consistency and scalability of operational processes as more merchants and retail categories join the platform
4. Process Improvement and Automation
● Identify opportunities to simplify and automate recurring checks, reporting and troubleshooting tasks.
● Use spreadsheets and, where appropriate, basic queries or scripts to improve efficiency and accuracy.
● Turn recurring investigations into clear, repeatable workflows and playbooks.
● Share insights from day-to-day operations to help teams address underlying issues, not just individual symptoms.
Skills Required:
● Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to investigating issues.
● Confidence using Excel or Google Sheets to analyse data, identify discrepancies and maintain accurate reporting.
● Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and follow-ups.
● An interest in understanding how systems, integrations and data flows work.
● The ability to learn new tools and processes quickly.
● Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain an issue and its impact to different audiences.
Preferred qualifications
● Experience in operations, technical support, e-commerce, retail technology or merchant integrations.
● Familiarity with product catalogues, inventory feeds or data quality processes.
● Familiarity with SQL.
You don’t need to be a software engineer to succeed in this role. Curiosity, sound judgement and a methodical approach to troubleshooting are more important than experience with any specific tool.
