Motel Supervisor – Merrijig Motor Inn

Looking for your next opportunity in the hospitality industry? The Merrijig Motor Inn, part of Buller Hospitality, is looking for a hands-on Motel Supervisor to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of Merrijig Motor Inn. This is a varied operational role suited to someone who enjoys being involved in all aspects of a property. You’ll oversee reception and reservations, café and front-of-house service and housekeeping, while leading the team to deliver a welcoming guest experience.

During quieter periods, you’ll be hands-on across the operation, including café service, bookings and room cleaning. When things get busy during the Winter period, you’ll step into a stronger leadership role, coordinating rosters and supporting recruitment, induction and training of the seasonal team.

Our team offers great value and a welcoming atmosphere, providing off-mountain accommodation, a cozy bistro, a lively beer garden, a general store, and ski hire during the winter season. Nestled in Cattleman Country by the Delatite River, we’re just a 15-minute drive from Mansfield and only 10 minutes from the gates of Mt Buller Ski resort.

What You'll Be Doing

- Oversee the daily operations of the motel, café and staff lodge

- Coordinate reception, reservations, guest enquiries and front-of-house service

- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, presentation and guest experience

- Manage staff lodge allocations, occupancy records and resident communications





- Monitor property standards and report maintenance requirements

- Supervise and support employees across the operation

- Coordinate rosters and assist with recruitment, induction and training during busier periods

- Respond appropriately to operational, accommodation, safety and welfare matters

- Work hands-on across the business, including café service, bookings and room cleaning when required

- Lead a larger operational team during peak periods

We're looking for someone who:

- Is practical, organised and comfortable working hands-on

- Has strong hospitality and customer service skills

- Can confidently supervise and support a team

- Can manage competing operational priorities

- Communicates well with guests and employees

- Takes pride in maintaining high accommodation and service standards

- Uses sound judgement when dealing with operational, welfare or safety matters
