Fabricator / Store Person (Structural Steel)

— Variety Role (Not 24/7 Welding)

We're not looking for someone to weld the Harbour Bridge all day.

If you like variety, thinking on your feet, and being part of a tight, efficient operation — keep reading.

About the Role

At Brisbane Steel Sales, we supply structural steel to builders and fabricators — fast.

This role is hands-on and varied:

- ~30-40% fabrication (posts, plates, light structural work)

- The rest is real warehouse operations — cutting, processing, loading, and keeping jobs moving

You'll be a key part of making sure orders go out accurately, on time, every time.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

- Fabricating and welding (MIG) — mainly posts & plates

- Cutting steel (bandsaw, cold saw)

- Processing daily customer orders

- Loading customer utes and trucks (overhead crane)

- Picking and packing steel orders

- Restocking racks and managing incoming stock

- Reading basic engineering drawings

- General warehouse organisation (keeping things tight and efficient)

The Type of Person That Fits This Role

You're not just a welder — you're someone who:

- Takes pride in getting things right, not rushed

- Can switch between tasks without falling apart

- Doesn't wait to be told what to do

- Works well in a small, no-BS team

- Understands that customers come first

Bonus points if you:

- Can think ahead and organise your workflow

- Keep your workspace clean without being told

- Don't mind helping a customer load their ute

Requirements

- Fabrication / welding experience and Certificates (essential)

- Minimum 5 years fabrication and welding experience with structural steel required

- Forklift licence (required)

- Valid forklift licence of any type required

- Overhead crane experience (preferred)

- Physically fit (steel isn't light)

- Robust safety mindset

Optional Bonus (Not Essential)

- Truck licence (MR/HR) — helpful but not required
