Xenco is looking for an experienced mining consultant to take on a short to medium term engagement with a resources client on a open cut project in Queensland.
The project is a brownfield open cut expansion in its study phase. You’ll come in as the subject matter expert on the mining side of operational readiness. You’ll own that scope, shape the deliverables and give the client a transparent picture of what the operation needs to start safely and ramp up well.
It’s a hands-on advisory role. You’ll work closely with the client’s project and operations teams in their Brisbane office Monday to Friday, with periodic trips to site as needed.
Scope of the engagement
Leading the mining component of operational readiness through the FID process
Defining requirements for staged mine commencement, fleet procurement and mobilisation, commissioning, start-up and ramp-up
Advising on workforce mobilisation, training and operator competency
Developing the framework for mining procedures and operating systems
Assessing what’s needed for mobile equipment deployment, mine infrastructure and support facilities
Covering traffic and water management,
and brownfield interfaces
Building and maintaining readiness plans and registers, and reporting risks and dependencies to project and operational leadership
What you’ll bring
A solid practical open cut mining background, with credibility at the operational level
Direct involvement in greenfield open cut, mine establishment or a major open cut expansion (essential)
Previous consulting, owner’s team or project-based work in operational readiness, studies or execution
The ability to own a scope, work independently and deliver without needing much direction
Comfort presenting to and advising senior client stakeholders
Availability for a prompt start

Brisbane-based, Monday to Friday
Periodic travel to a regional Queensland site
Day rate, commensurate with experience
