As a Funeral Director, you will be the guiding hand for grieving families, managing both the emotional and logistical aspects of arranging and conducting funeral services. You will ensure that every service runs seamlessly and honours the unique final wishes of the deceased and their family.
Key responsibilities
Meet with bereaved families to consult on, plan, and arrange all aspects of funeral services with empathy and professionalism.
Manage the logistics of the funeral day, including scheduling clergy/celebrants, booking venues, organizing floral tributes, and coordinating transport.
Accurately complete all necessary legal, medical, and administrative documentation required for burials or cremations.
Lead the funeral cortege and direct proceedings on the day of the service, maintaining a calm and dignified presence.
Participate in an on-call roster for out-of-hours phone inquiries.
About you
Compassionate and empathetic with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate gently with people experiencing profound grief.
Highly organized with a sharp eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple events and strict deadlines simultaneously.
Maintain a high standard of professional dress and conduct, reflecting the dignity of the profession.
Emotionally resilient with the maturity and strength to work in a sensitive environment daily.
Hold a valid, clean driver's license (essential for driving company vehicles).
Experience in the funeral industry is highly regarded, but candidates with strong backgrounds in event management or care-focused sectors are welcome to apply.
