Exciting opportunities exist for passionate Function Chefs to join the culinary team at Melbourne Museum.

Be part of a dedicated team delivering exceptional catering and dining experiences at one of Melbourne’s most iconic cultural institutions. From intimate functions to large-scale events, you’ll help create high-quality food experiences for guests and visitors.

These are casual Level 5 and Level 6 roles, offering 30–40 hours per week across Monday to Sunday, including evenings and weekends.

Your Role

As a Function Chef, you will:
Prepare and present high-quality dishes for a diverse range of events and functions
Support smooth kitchen operations from preparation through to service and pack-down
Work closely with the Head Chef and senior kitchen team to deliver consistently exceptional food
Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and quality




Thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and presentation

About You
Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent relevant qualification
Minimum two years’ experience in a professional, high-volume kitchen, function or events setting
A solid eye for detail, quality and presentation
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and remain organised during busy service periods
Positive energy, a collaborative mindset and genuine passion for great food
Valid Australian working rights, ideally citizenship, residency or a full working visa
