Electrical Design Engineer – Data Centres | Australia

I’m partnering exclusively with a specialist engineering consultancy that designs and commissions mission-critical facilities for some of the biggest names in the data centre market. With a strong pipeline of hyperscale and colocation projects secured, they’re looking to add an Electrical Design Engineer to their growing team.

You’ll see your designs built, tested and brought online, and you’ll gain a level of practical, whole-of-lifecycle experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.

The role
Designing HV/MV/LV distribution, UPS, standby generation and switchgear systems for large-scale data halls
Taking design packages from concept through detailed design to IFC, coordinating closely with mechanical and architectural teams
Carrying out power system studies, including load flow, fault level, protection coordination and arc flash
Working alongside the in-house commissioning team to make sure designs are buildable, testable and maintainable
Getting involved in site visits, witness testing and integrated systems testing as projects reach completion




Building strong relationships with clients, contractors and network providers

What they’re looking for
A degree in Electrical Engineering, with CPEng or RPEQ (or working towards it) highly regarded
Experience designing electrical systems for data centres or other mission-critical settings such as hospitals, airports or utilities
A solid grasp of redundancy topologies (N+1, 2N, distributed redundant) and Tier/Uptime principles
Working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 and related Australian Standards
Experience with tools such as ETAP, PowerCAD, DIgSILENT or AMTECH, plus Revit/BIM coordination
Commissioning or site exposure is a real plus, but a genuine interest in it is just as valued
